I am a student youth leader at my church. I have a teenager that I talk with, and he/she posted this on their page:

Why is no matter what i do i always seem to

SCREW

everything up thats good in my life???

I want to give them good, Biblical advice. I've thought of David and Job, but that just really don't apply much. Can anyone give me some scriptures to look up for my friend. They aren't too familiar with being a Christian either.

I, too, am a teenager. I don't have any effective scenarios in my life to share with my friend. During training to become a student youth leader, we learned to listen, and I do just that. I just want a Biblical story to encouarge her for an example. Thank you guys so much for your answers!

"There is none righteous, no not one."

We are all failures, and we have the potential to fail big time.

God is bigger than our failures and our sins. We don't take pride in ourselves, but we learn from our mistakes, and we move on knowing that God is awesome.

Hope this helps.

Stop right there. Firstly it is not scripture that they need nor will they take anything you say seriously if you start quoting the bible. They are just going to say BAH! and look somewhere else. If you want to make a difference draw from your own life experience. Remember the bad times in your life and use them. You will make a better connection and possibly help someone in the process. save the sermons for afterwords After they are listening to you. Right now they just need an ear to listen a shoulder to cry on and some good honest advice to get them through today. Thanks for trying by the way not many people care enough to try. Bless you.

I think you need a lot more information before you try to look for scripture. You have to find out what it is the person feels like they screwed up and why they feel that way. You may be dealing with adolescent depression, which needs medication. You may be dealing with a home abuse situation which needs intervention. You may be dealing with a social problem which a little friendly listening may help. Only when you know where the person is really at can you pick scripture that may help them.

If they aren't too familiar with being a Christian, then I'm not sure biblical quotes would help.

This sounds a lot like typical teenager stuff to me. I would be more concerned if I saw writings about depression or suicide.

Just be his/her friend, and LISTEN. Sometimes all they want is someone to vent on. Don't judge or try to solve any problems. Empower him/her to do it, instead.

The best time in the world to screw everything up is when you are a teenager. You can still find support, learn, and make a great future for yourself. The world is run by former screwups.

Heres what you're able to desire to do is strengthen UP your 17 and from the sounds of issues you act worse that a 7 years previous next you're able to desire to resign being violent which will land you in penitentiary and have confidence me you do no longer elect to be able like that. and why do you argue with each and every thing that basically basic stupid... in case you have a older sister or brother communicate with them first in the previous you wind up with no kin

Tell them about how Moses killed an Egyptian guard be accident. He srewed up a posh palace life, his family, everything he had, but he never would have led his people out of egypt if he had not screwed it up. Judas screwed it up, but Christ never would have died if he hadnt screwed it up. Jonah screwed it up, but trused in God and it was made right agian. Jaboc screwed up his whole family. He decived his dad, stole from his brother. Obeyed his mom, and so had to be sent away from all he knew, but he never would have been chosen by God to father the isreali race if he haden't screwed it up. People make mistaks, but if we trust in God and ask him to make the best of what we did he will.

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33

If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength! (Proverbs 24:10)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all. (Psalm 34:19)

I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble. (Psalm 142:2)
