That will depend on if you work for yourself or some one else and also what part of the country you are in. Alot will depend on how good you are and how you treat your customers. I know excellent hairstylists who make next to nothing because they are not "people friendly" they are "stuck up" acting etc... I also know mediocre stylists who make tones because of their people skills. In my city I am the top stylist out of about 30 shops and salons, but we are inn a very small place and in a very poor part of the country, I make much more than the average person does here but I still live in a trailer house....If I moved to a bigger city I could triple my income. Speaking for Oklahoma, the average yearly income for a barber and/or stylist is about $18,000 while I run closer to $25,000.

it completely depends. hairstylist's can make anyware from 20,000 to 1 million. most good hairstylists make from around 70 to 100 thousand a year. keep in mind most have to pay health insurance, ect. on their own.
