To me, being normal is feeling normal.

What's feeling normal?

1. Not thinking about suicide constantly.

2. Not thinking about how great it would be to just be institutionalized or in jail because I can't deal with every little detail of life. Daydreaming about being permanently institutionalized.

3. Being in touch with reality. (No psychosis and delusions.)

4. Able to handle day-to-day tasks like showering and doing laundry.

5. Not crying four times a day.

Yeah, just being normal. (Which I achieve through medication.)

I have asked myself and God what the answer to your question is for many years. I started by studying many different fields of interest to myself. The Bible became my favorite source of information. To find the answer to the question you asked though, it took me many years, which I'm sure it will take you but for the present, I believe normal is what you know in your heart is true. Like what kind of person you are. I asked myself that question and then I asiked others what they thought of me. I also read the Bible to hear from my creator what He thought of me. I also needed to know if I was abnormal in any way. I asked myself that question and I asiked others. I wrote all of the answers down and then I began to get a fuller picture of what normal and abnormal is. I also asked experts about myself. I asked a psychiatrist, in what ways am I normal and in what ways am I abnormal. I wrote down these answers and a fuller picture evolved. Today after a 47 year search, I finally think I know what is normal for me, for my loved ones, for my friends and what my God thinks is normal. My conclusion is that life is hard, very hard. I feel happy at least half of the time, if not more. I am on medication for depression and don't suffer any longer from that condition. I feel that a normal life is being happy and in a loving, positive, productive, relationship with first myself, then others and then most important with my God. I first was able to do this by becoming a born again Christian. It says in John 3:16....For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son to die for me, and that whoever believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life. He also says that He will forgive my mistakes, and I should forgive others their mistakes, and I know this is true for my past, my present and my future and the same for others' past, present and future. How more complete a picture is there of normal? The Bible, asking other people you trust, and your heart will reveal this to you.

Nope. "Normal" is just a word used to describe what people think is the standard. And everybodys standard is different.

"Normal" is behaving in the way that is generally accepted in whatever society you live in. There is no set "you're normal if you ..." It's all based on preception and popularity.
