I told this one boy at school that I had no religion and he told me I was "evil with no morals and most certainly going to hell also I was an abmonation to god". I don't agree it's not like I worship Satan or don't believe at all. I just don't think that we should have seperated religions...we all basically believe in a higher power of some kind.

Okay, Firstly I'm not ignorant. Second, I was Christian for 13 years and it was pointless. Third, I don't read the bible. And Finally I HAVE accepted a higher power, but who are you to say that that power is Jesus. It could be a fluffy cat or something.

First of all i was born and raised a Southern Baptist. I became a christian through their doctrine and have thus since realized that I personally do not agree with their doctrine. The cool thing about the particular church i attended is that I could verbally discuss and theologically explore other religions and learn.
What I have learned is simply this: everyone believes essentially the same belief. It does not matter what your ultimate religion is because it is your personal belief that matters. Each religion teaches primarily to treat others as you would wish to be treated and to always care for your family/brethren. Even if one were to believe in Satanism you still beleive in backing your fellow members. However you are following more along the lines of a perspective evil and more along selfish desires.
In the Eastern Religions and beliefs of wisdoms (including but not limited to Enlightenment such as Buddhism and Hinduism) most of the systems focus on bettering oneself. The best part of what I have learned within and from the Eastern beliefs is it does not matter what the next person does or does not believe but simply to help that person and be civil to them. If they wish to learn your beliefs or tailor their life to reflect what you have shown them then you teach them, but only when they approach you.
What matters most...and this someone has told me personally...is not what you believe in ....but the fact that you do believe.
Belief in it's own right is what matters and gives you something to fight for. Gives you a reason to move forward, simply belief is motivation.
If one person believes in the many Gods of Hindu, or the pure form of Nirvana as Buddha, or the power of Pan, or simply they believe in no God(s) is their own choice. But nonetheless they do believe in something. By stating that one does not believe, is a belief in it's own right.
Since I have not found any one religion which I totally agree with .... because I believe all people are created 100% equal. Everyone has free will. The Father who art in heaven has stated this. Humanity was created equal and with THEIR own free will to choose as they will. And yet most of the religous beliefs take that for granted and forget that one fact and thus individual doctrines and belief systems begin to seperate one from the next. This being the unfortunate. This being where one person argues their belief is better than the next. In truth, not any one specific belief is better than the next, but again back to the fact that one does believe in something.
My belief is simple. To spread peace and happiness one person at a time. And to do this one must begin by believing in something that fits their soul. Their spirit.
People these days are like that of the teacher Hueh Shih. Huang Liao learned this of Hueh Shih: "Weak in his understanding of Teh (character or spiritual constitution) and engrossed with material things, he gets lost in the bypaths. Alas, Hueh Shih wastes his talent and ends up holding nothing. He buries himself in physical things and cannot find his way back, like one trying to drown an echo with his voice, or like a man running away from his own shadow."
Hueh Shih became famous but taught nothing but circle logic. He lost the path when his ego grew. And most "modern" religions such as christianity or the aspects that are taught and not hidden or forbidden of Christianity promotes ones own self righteous growth of ego, of that thought that "i am better than you."
This is wrong for once again even in the bible you learn that everyone is equal. Not anyone one person is greater or lesser than the next. No matter what their belief is.
Do not lose yourself....simply believe and let others find their path. For if you do not let them find their own path they will find a false path.
All of humanity is created equal. All of humanity was given free will.
Peace be with you all.

That kid has problems. Gandhi didn't even have a specific religion. He practiced Hinduism all his life, but he didn't accept all of it.
"Thus if I could not accept Christianity either as a perfect, or the greatest religion, neither was I then convinced of Hinduism being such. Hindu defects were pressingly visible to me. If untouchability could be a part of Hinduism, it could but be a rotten part or an excrescence. I could not understand the raison d'etre of a multitude of sects and castes. What was the meaning of saying that the Vedas were the inspired Word of God? If they were inspired, why not also the Bible and the Koran? As Christian friends were endeavouring to convert me, so were Muslim friends. Abdullah Sheth had kept on inducing me to study Islam, and of course he had always something to say regarding its beauty."

When it comes to religion there is no "right" or "wrong" answer. It's totally a personal choice and no one can prove that his or her beliefs are more valid than yours. The boy at school has almost certainly learned those things from his parents and/or his church. Christianity likes to use fear to gain and keep followers. Bottom line: find your own path and do what you think is right.
P.S. What he said is a) not very Christian since he's clearly judging you and b) un-American for not respecting your freedom of religion.

you are absolutely not evil for not having religion. lack of religion does not make u evil. however, i believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. someone w/o religion unfortunately cannot go to heaven. i know this probably sounds like i'm lashing out since its being typed and u can't hear the emotion in my voice, but i'm not trying to sound mean. i can't condemn u to hell that's God's job. so that boy needs to check himself, b/c he is not God. and if i didn't believe in anything and someone said that to me i would reply by telling them just that. he has no right in the world to tell u such things. u r not an abomination, u are a gift from God. God loves u so much and right now i'm worried about this boy that insulted u like that. not very christianlike at all!!!!!!!!!

i dont believe in religion for the same reason you dont. Dont listen to him but i see that you already was guided in your own heart since you had doubt to ask. Yes it does cause separation, exactly what god dont want from us. I look at it like religion is a spiritual gang that us humans created. Because if you talk too much with two that isn't the same religion, it could turn violent, exactly what Satan wants. (conflict) Your not an abomination for this. Read your bible for yourself. I found one called "the book" that broke it down to my understanding, being that the bible is hard to read. So if its hard, it then becomes boring. but this one worked for me

No, you are not. Many people don't have a specific religion, I don't either. I believe in what I believe in and that's about it. On my mothers side it is all differnent than my dad's side.....I never knew which way to go so I never did. I'm kinda "neutral" I guess, and I don't condem anyone else for they're choice either.
Life is what you make of it, not what someone wants to judge and label you as. Your fine.

I dont think your evil for that, my husband is "muslim" and he follows absolutely nothing of it, nor is he any other religion. However he does believe in god, and right from wrong - and him being evil isnt even part of the equation. Of course your going to get many diverse answers for this question. But in my opinion you are NOT evil for not owning a religion

You are Right............what is in a persons heart comes out of their mouth ( you remember that ). The reason that kid got on you is he doesn't like himself....... The only way he could feel better than you is to put you down. To me you sound like a decent person so you need a different idea.YOU were the mirror and that kid was talking about the reflexion he saw..........himself......... My reason for you being a mirror is you at least have a nutural heart and were the innocent of the two........ check out robert m on yahoo 360 it is all spirit
