People who answer do not have to be a**holes about this. It was a one time thing that happened while I ran to the car for that matter i don't have to explain anything to you!. And my vet is closed right now I am taking him in the morning. I just want something to do tonight to help him a little.

ALSO the "gash" is small it doesn't need stitches and my area does not have an emergency vet or he would be there. They are very small I was just worried about the ear.

Ah even more details.! The bleeding did stop. And he is acting fine just shaking his ear a little. My vet isn't answering the phone at the moment but they do have an emergency line.

There's a product called bleedstop but I am assuming you won't have any of that handy.
Puncture wounds and gashes can get septic quickly. Hair can get in the wounds and also contribute to infections. Gash may require stitches and even a drain.
I'd pack the wounds with triple antibiotic ointment (no peroxide - can drive the infection deeper) and call the vet!

Feed them separately in the future.

You should take your dogs to the vet. A dog's mouth is full of bacteria, and dog bite wounds can get very infected, and even abscess if not properly taken care of. It is best to call your veterinarian and get them in as soon as you can.

Edit: If you can't get to the vet now, just put pressure on the wounds until they stop bleeding. I don't know how big the gash is. Hopefully it is small enough to stop the bleeding with pressure. But you should have an emergency vet clinic phone number on hand in case the wound is big enough that the bleeding won't stop. And make sure his gums stay pink. If they start getting pale, or anything else goes wrong, then it is time to call the emergency vet. Good Luck, I hope the wounds aren't too bad...

Dogs abcess quickly, especially from bites. For the evening, get peroxide and qtips and clean it as well as you can and then apply a triple antibiotic, Neosporin is good. You may have to put the qtip into the wound and find out if the skin & or fascia has been ripped away from the muscle. But get the peroxide and Neosporin in the wound well. You need to take the dog to the Vet. Then address the problem with them fighting over food so you don't have the problem again. If you can't control them with voice commands feed them in separate areas then pick the food up until next feeding. And you should have a Dog First Aid Kit. Peroxide, gauze, qtips, Neosporin and you can get alum, which stops bleeding. It comes in a powder, you just apply it to the wound and it will stop the bleeding as long as its not a cut vein or artery.

The ear wounds, if kept clean, usually heal pretty well on their own (and yeah, they bleed like crazy!) but that neck wound will almost definitely need a good vet cleaning and stitches. I'm glad you're taking him to the vet in the morning.

For now, run some peroxide over if he'll let you.

And keep an eye on the dogs. Once mine started fighting, they never relaxed with each other again and I eventually had to send one to live with my dad. :( It's *always* a good idea to feed dogs separately.

First of all, as the alpha, you should not have allowed your pack to fight about food. You should have been controlling the environment and protecting the targeted dog once the fight happened. That's your role as alpha. No one fights unless the Alpha ok's it.

You need to take your dog to the vet - a fight like that can change the temperment of both dogs permanently. You need to start behavioral training and correction sooner than later on the aggressive dog. You should also feed the weaker dog first and make the aggressive dog wait -- let him learn his place. YOU control the food, and you'll give it to whomever you want in whatever order you want.

Sadly this wouldn't have happened if you had been practicing your role as alpha.

Call your vet.

Edit to add -- This will not be a one time thing if you don't step up and start training immediately with the aggressive dog. You're also going to have to help the weaker dog regain his confidence. Don't put your head in the sand and pretend you don't have a problem here - what if that was your child the dog turned on? What if it was the mailman?

Don't worry, if the bleeding is slowing down then the dog isn't in any immediate danger.

The best thing you could do right now is to keep an eye on the dog and bring him to the vets first thing in the morning.

Have you rang the vets? There's usually one vet on call even if the surgery is closed. If you are still worried and think that the dog can't wait till the morning then I suggest you try calling the vet.

if the gash in the neck is bad, find a pet hospital-anything. neck wounds are DANGEROUS.
my dogs were wresling a long time ago ( :) i still remeber it)and one of my dogs bit the other too hard on the ear and it was bleeding bloody murder. i was scared only being 7 or so. my mom just kept putting paper towle after paper towel over it. turned out that it stopped bleeding after a few HOURS. im not sure why we didnt take her to the vet... maybe it was closed. it was only an ear though. but the ear still has a hole in it today-8 years later!
as for the neck, try putting towels on that too. use some anti-biotics said abouve in other anwsers. (make sure to rinse it out alot) but if its bleeding alot, look in your phone book or somthing for a pet hospital. there aren't to many but i've seen a few.
dont feel to bad. dogs have fights, (really over food) and it was clearly an accident. maybe watch them during food time and keep any low cabnits and containers closed so they dont get into any more fights. if they both eat in one room during dinnner/breakfast try putting them in kenals or seperate rooms. thats what we do.

I think a vet appt. is in order. The "gash" may need some stitches. At the very least your vet will give you antibiotics to ward off infection.

If they are puncture wounds flush them good with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water several times a day, watch for any signs of infection, reddness swelling etc. If it looks like either wound needs stitches take the dog to the vet. immediately for antibiotics and stitches.

I disagree with you. i think of which you should get Bo to a vet. It appears like he's torpid (once you're saying sluggish shifting). homestead treatments are in no way stable concepts with animals. A vet could choose to scrub out the injuries and specific supply Bo some style of antibiotic to stay away from an infection. Does Bo have all his pictures? If he does not, he might have picked up any style of illnesses from the canines(s) he replaced into combating with. it is something else to communicate alongside with your vet. in case you do not have the money, look into Care credit--a mastercard you ought to use on the veterinarian. I also have a Care mastercard, and it relatively is an amazing source once you're in a pinch. it relatively is relatively hassle-free to get authorized for. I paintings at an animal medical institution, and we sign shoppers up for it all the time. Why replaced into he waiting to get to the buddies canines? you should stay away from this from happening lower back. i'm going to spare you the lecture which you gets from everybody else that solutions this question, yet whilst he's no longer neutered, doing so will very much decrease the possibility of him desirous to get in those fights. additionally, you should locate the thank you to incorporate him on your backyard so it does not ensue lower back.
