We hate the base we are at and my husband is considering an unaccompanied short tour to get us a base of preference. Does anyone know where you can go besides Korea?

What base are you at? And why do you hate it so much? I've always taken it as my responsibility, as a Marine wife, to make the most of each new duty station. We've lived in places we haven't liked as much as others... but we dealt with it, because we chose to be a military family. And when it gets down to it... we're only "stuck" at a certain base for two- three years at a time. Which in the grand scheme of life, isn't all that long.

Think of it this way... by the time your husband figures out a "short tour" to do, gets into school to go do whatever it is he'll do over there and then actually goes... more than half your time at the base you're at will be over anyways.... why not just stick it out with him at home?

How long is a piece of string?

Your question has no answer.

What branch of service is he?
What's his MOS (Career Field)?
What is his rank?

These three factors will determine what he is eligible for. I would suggest he speak to a career counselor, not to re-up, but because they know all the programs.

As to your unhappiness I would suggest you talk to the Chaplin to see if he know of activities or organizations you can enjoy.

Good Luck!
