(Mat 7:22 KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
(Mat 7:23 KJV) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Many think they are born again simply by saying a few words from their brains, when salvation is a thing from the heart. Salvation will bring a desire to be more like Jesus and that comes from transformation of the mind by the word of God.
It is not a matter of a house divided, but rather a house with strangers in it. People need to apply themselves to God's word, then their minds will be transformed and less and less of the things they approve of will be an abomination to God, like the shedding of innocent blood of the babies in the womb, it will take place less and less, the more people apply themselves to truely seek what pleases God.

The basic party platforms are as you've described. At the same time, I don't encourage judging a whole group by what the leaders or other small part of the group say.
My personal (Republican) perception is that the Dems want to solve the world's problems by setting up another program, and another and another and another.... or send someone a check.
I don't really think that is the most effective way to acheive that goal. Sure, I feel anger at previous generations of whites who broke treaties with the Native Americans... but I don't feel that giving every tribal member a monthly check will improve the situation. On this particular issue, all those monthly checks have done is altered a whole demographic group to reek of entitlement and laziness. Sorry to say, that monthly check has made all the ugly stereotypes real.

I am neither a Republican, nor am I a Democrat! I got away from all that partisan bologna a long time ago! I am an Independent. I know Democrats who do not believe in abortion and are Christians! My grandmother was a southern Democrat who was a born again Christian. She would turn over in her grave to see what the Democrats have done to her beloved party! I have a cousin who is Republican and believes in Pro Choice! You are putting all of us in a box ! We are as individual and diverse as the country we live in!
I do think the Blue Dog Democrats are looking good! Very much like grandma's Democratic party!

Wonderful observations! I agree it seems that way and IF those who are Christians and Republicans do not vote, we have no voice! We become subject to the powers that be... to some extent.
Remember that stance can be taken too far, because Paul and Silas decided to do God's will when it colided with Roman law.., also Peter did the same and he was released from prison and stocks by an angel!
Sooner or later Christians are gonna have to make their stand on certain issues.
We can't force unbelievers to do the "right" thing, but we can refuse to keep quiet on LIFE issues and join in the "silent" protests, we can write letters, make phone calls and always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us!
Jesus never yielded His self to the powers of government. He remained true to His mission and His Father and to the Kingdom of God, yet without making a problem. He never ran from one, but His father and mother were told to flee when He was a baby into Egypt until the Holy Spirt told them when it was safe to return home. We need to listen to the Holy Spirit and not try and bring controversy to the Church or the Kingdom of God because we think things need to be changed. We can SEEK the Father's heart on any issue and obey and follow His instructions.
Not all of us need to build an Ark, but all of us need to "occupy until He comes". To occupy means to be about our Father's business!
Do we have a choice to be Pro-Life? How that politically falls is just the way it falls. There is godly ignorance in both political parties..., PRAY.

I've wondered that myself. I do notice most democrats are brain-washed into thinking it is the rich (Rep. ) against the poor (Dem.). At least down here in Tex. it seems to be that way. That of course isn't true. It's the Dem.'s that have taxed us to death not the Rep.'s. The spiritual issues have always bothered me too. I could never vote for a politician if I knew he is pro-choice. I want no blood on my hands. Then there's also the horse races that brings organized crime into the community. The lottery that robs the poor on false hopes of getting something for nothing. And liquor being sold on every street corner. It goes on and on. But it seems a big contradiction to vote for anyone who violates God's laws. We have a choice......free will and we are held accountable for even how we vote. Good question. God bless you.

This would seem correct but in reality, many in the Republican party have opted to position themselves as pro-choice (pro-abortion). Perhaps it's because they feel that their political lives depend on it - funny how their political lives do matter to them but not those of Innocent children that didn't ask to be created by careless men and women. In any case, I don't see anything changing for the better where the political parties are concerned anytime in the near future but no worries! You keep on moving along and don't be disheartened.

Another example of right-wing christians trying to blur the lines between religious belief and legislation. You should join a political party because what it stands for best fits your views. There are republicans out there who are pro-choice.
I would imagine that some christians choose affiliation with the democratic party because certain issues (like education or the environment) are important to them ... and many may choose to maintain their own specific views on things like abortion and gay marriage. However, one of the biggest differences between republicans and democrats is the way that federal and local governments should interact and what the responsiblities of each should be on certain issues -- and if you disagree with the republican party on this, you shouldn't "convert" just because more of them tend to support your opinion on one thing.
Republican doesn't equal christian. It would probably be beneficial for you to realize that now.

You can't generally categorize the different political stands. It doesnt matter if you are a Democrat or Republican it matters on what you believe and stand for. If a Democrat was ever Pro-Life I would vote for them.

Some accept separation of Church and State as a matter of fact. This has gone on since 1625.
Also, understand many Southern Democrates are actually Republicans in disguse. It's due to Lincoln.
You are aware that Al Gore (Democrat and former VP) wife Tipper is the one who started Music Labeling and restricing sales of rap to those over 17 (she founded the PMRC).
So in the 2000 election we basically had TWO Republicans running.
Al Gore and George Bush
