Certainly not! Having an illness that effects your mental body, is no different than one that affects your physical body. Society makes cruel awful jokes, regarding the mentally ill, or those suffering from depression, and bi-polar issues. I believe they do this, out of ignorance about these problems that affect so many of our society. One is not weak because they have an illness, an illness may cause them to become weakened.

Absolutely not! You are never "weak" for seeking help, no matter what the problem. Being strong enough to admit that you do need help is very courageous. Especially in the case of mental disorders, people often think that they are just attitude and lack of trying, and they don't understand that people with mental disorders have something that can't be changed by themselves. Being strong enough to find help in the midst of that is embodying strength.

Not at all. One of the hardest things a person may ever have to come to terms with is that they need help. Anyone who can realize this and seek out help is a very strong person in my opinion. If a person knew they needed help, but refused to seek it out, then they may be considered weak.

Heck no. Shows an incredible sign of strength. Too many people go along throughout life in denial and make things most difficult for those around them. If a person realizes they need help, that's no sign of weakness at all, my friend. It shows a great amount of insight and courage. Wish more people would take the leap.

No, and don't think that it makes you weak. Seeking professional help is going to benefit you so it should be empowering. Starting getting help may be a low point in someone's life, but it's the start of healing..

Absolutely not. Mental illness is just that, an illness. Would you be considered weak if you went to the hospital for a heart attack, or becuase you have diabetes? It takes more courage to recognize that there is a problem and go get help.

If the sadnes or other "weird" feeling is CONSTANT, there is nothing weak or wrong with seeking help. This also goes for people with things other than depression, of course. If one feels something just isn't right with them and can't pinpoint the cause, or if they are constantly being told to seek help, they should find help! There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel better.

NO.

Not finding help and getting worse to the point you cannot function normally is what makes a person weak. Not wanting to take responsibility for taking care of their health is weak.

Seeking professional help for a problem you need help with is actually showing strength. We can't always help ourselves with every problem in this world.

Not weak, but stronger and intelligent for realizing there is a problem, and seeking help to get on top of it.

No, just the opposite. It makes him/her smart enough to get help instead of getting worse and pretending that a problem doesn't exist. It takes courage to admit that you need help. Think of it like being a manager. A manager doesn't do everything by him-/herself. He/She delegates. Getting professional help is like hiring a specialist for your personal team. It makes good sense.
