Dollar Show

2007-05-04 14:02:14 · answer #1 · answered by ? 4 · 0 2

Go to a playground and play on the equipment. Read a story. Make cookies. Go to a dollar store. Play "go fish". Draw pictures. Finger paint. Play with playdoh together. Look at a map of the world together and talk about different places and people. Play counting games with marshmallows, and say "if I take away one, how many do you have..." Practise writing his/her name together. Play I spy. Do each other's hair (if it's a girl!) Look at photograph albums together. Make ice cream. Plant a garden and work together in the garden (okay, this is a summer of Fridays, Tuesdays and every other day!) Go to a pet store and pet the animals. Look at the fish. Find Roadrunner cartoons on youtube.

Kids this age are so easily entertained and it doesn't take a lot of money! All they really care is that you are together and you are giving them love and attention. Have fun!

Take a walk and look at the flowers. After that get a cheap movie and bake some cookies then watch the movie or bake some cookies and then read a story. Or if you have a grill go outside make some hot dogs and then make Sm ores. Kids love to mix the dough and lick the spoons and it is great time together. Is there a park near you they can be great

There are several websites online geared toward preschoolers that only cost time. The sites I will list below are all related to TV channels that air programming geared toward preschoolers and toddlers.

Your local library may have activities planned for preschoolers. Most libraries do them on Saturdays, though. They also have a wide selection of educational videos aimed at preschoolers you can check out for a few days, or a week at the most.

There are parenting websites, and the ones I listed below also have parents sections that give you ideas for activities you can do with your child for very little money, and some cost nothing.

Try Colouring Book's and Crayons,or Cutting and Pasteing! Peeka-boo,Hide and Seek. My 3 year old loves to identify Her body part's (ie) Where are your Ears,or Where are your Eyes,Nose,Mouth etc. Or you can Simply try "Simon Says" as well! Look at interesting pictures, point out to him/her...what they are-and see if they can say the word that is used to describe the picture.(ie) This is a Doggie...can you say Doggie? This helps them to develope their vocabulary, and they learn alot from what they see...and in words! There is very few things that wouldn't amuse a 3 year old! Also try making some homemade treat, that requires no cooking...and be sure to include them in helping you make it! Children at 3 years...are usually quite curious, and have a yearning to see the end results of their efforts! Try 'Building Blocks' or other structural item like Lego Blocks, encourage them to build something. But if they tell you its a particular item-just agree and compliment them on a job well done...even if it doesn't look anything like whatever they are describing! Make Paper Airplanes, or other Paper Ornaments. Maybe Snowflakes or Princesse's Crown's! Hope this will help to get your imagination going! Thx. theerrander.

Arts and crafts with things you have in the house. There is always playing dress up and imaginary games. Have a tea party or blow bubbles. Go on a backyard adventure or a long walk. Watch a dvd make up your own story and then read it to them at bedtime. Use your imagination and creativity, 3 yr olds are easily entertained fairly inexpensively!

The great thing about 3 yr olds is that they really don't care if you're broke on a Friday night. Simple things like putting puzzles together, watching their favorite movie, coloring with them, (for girls)playing dress up or putting on makeup, (for boys) role playing games like dinosaurs or super heroes (make him a cape out of a pillow case). You will totally make his/her day just by spending quality one-on-one time together. Have fun tonight :o)

Drawing and coloring with stickers. 3 yr olds love stickers. Make a collage of stickers to hang on their wall in their room. Any arts and crafts.
Act out a familiar story with or without puppets. Make sock puppets. Read stories. Make up a story together.
Play twister.
Play hide and seek.
Make shadow figures on the wall.
Play grocery store with food from the cupboards and the fridge. Give him/her one of your cards from your wallet and pretend it's a credit card.
Make a fort out of blankets.
Sing songs.
Fingerpaints.
Make kool-aid popsicles with an ice cube tray, toothpicks, and some plastic wrap.
Hope this helps!

*G* I gotcha on this one.. My son is 2 and a half. go to Mcdonalds with a play land, and get a sundae from the dollar menu. It's enough for both of you (I split one with my son and daughter), or you can go to the library earlier in the day and pic out movies to watch (movies are free at the library) and you can make popcorn and watch the movie snuggled together. You can even make it interesting by making flavored popcorn. My son loves cinamon and sugar popcorn. He even helps put it on his own bowl.
If your son is active like mine, you can go for a walk after dinner. I usually bring along bubbles or sidewalk chalk so he can have something to amuse himself if he dosen't want to run. I like the running tho because when we come inside and have a snack, take a bath, and read a book, he's sooo ready for bed i get the night to myself..*G* just like tonight. hope these help!

Listen to music and dance, it sounds simple but my son loves it... i chase him around our apartment and he finds it hillarious.... make her a bubble bath with tons of bubbles, give her some plastic tumblers or something so she can play with the water.

Read a story, sometimes i make a tent by putting a sheet over the dining table, i switch out the lights grab a torch and some stuffed toys& the kid ofcourse, and we have a little read along in our own little den!

bake cookies, cakes. draw pictures, take photos while dressing up in funny outfits. Give him/her some adult clothes to wear if you dont have any costumes, and let him/her play pretends... Get some food out of the pantry/fridge and line them up, give the child a laundry basket and let them pretend to shop.

just a few ideas. hope they help.
