Medical- What is massive depression? Is it the same as major depression?

"Massive depression" is not an official medical diagnosis. It's called "Major Depressive Disorder". It's subtyped as mild, moderate, severe without psychotic features or severe with psychotic features. Maybe "massive" depression would be equivalent to the severe forms of Major Depression.

I worked in mental health for 20 years, and I don't think there's any such clinical term as "massive depression." "Major Depression" is an official clinical term. Someone might say they have "massive depression" or "massive pain" or whatever, but it's not really a term used by psychiatrists or mental health professionals as far as I know.
