"A light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Go toward the light, have faith in it. Even though much pain exists in the world, the darkness will not overcome the light for those who have faith.
Gandhi had a similar quote, when he said that whenever he got down, he would think of all the great evil men who have ever existed. He would then realize that, in the end, they always fell. To him, while there is darkness, the darkness cannot hide the light. Truth, wisdom, compassion will win in the end.
By the way, I am not advocating a conversion to Christianity (I am a Christian). I am, however, pointing out what I feel to be true. May beauty and light shine in your heart and mind today and always.
peace

How can you question the existence of evil? Just look at the world that you live in. Evil is everywhere. It permeates everything. Many people doubt the existence of God because there is no proof. But of evil? Plenty of proof.
Satan is the father of all that is evil. You cannot have one without the other. If there is evil, then there is good. God is the Father of all that is good.
Transcendentalism? The word of God says that to be out of the body is to be present with Jesus. People can work themselves into a state of self-hypnosis enough to believe that they are no longer in their body. But if that were the case, they would be dead.

Most religions and philosophies do have the elements of good and evil in them - but the good news is, in most of these belief systems good wins eventually - it's about hope.

I am sorry that you feel scared. I don't think transcendental meditation is bad at all, and I am a Christian. What do you think Jesus was doing when he went off for long periods of time by himself? He was not making "to do" lists.
God is very polite. When we are busy talking (or thinking for that matter) God does not interrupt. God waits for us to be still and quiet. Have you read the Old Testament story of Elijah? He stood at the mouth of his cave to listen to God. But God's voice was not in the whirlwhind or the thunder or the earthquake, it was in the still small voice.
When we meditate, we get still and quiet. Out of that quiet we commune with God.

It sounds like you're a victim of Christian spiritual abuse. Reject all of it now, it's not yours and it doesn't belong to you.
No Transcendentalism is not demonic. Nothing in this world is evil or demonic, only 'thinking' makes it so.

OK, I only understood some of this. The existence of evil/devil scares me, too, but just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It is better to be aware and cautious than to allow fear to talk you into thinking evil doesn't exist.

I believe that there are spiritual things that we shouldn't get involved with. I used to believe in lots of occultic things but I found Jesus, or should I say He found me. He has given me the freedom and the peace that you are seeking. Perhaps your new awareness of such things is the beginning of God's voice in your heart. Invite Him in and receive His assurance and safety. He will help you to be rid of fear as you begin to realise who He truly is. God bless you.

the devil is the mind. don't believe anything you think. simply rest in the knowing that you are. all religions point to the truth, ego mind gets in the way.

In the old testement, I believe Satan was actually a servent of God. In the New Testament, the concept of Hell (aka Hades) was most likely a pagan belief incorperated into christianity to help convert pagans.
