I think everyone looks at suicide as a selfish act because not only do you take matters into your own hands, you hurt many people that you leave behind.
Is it a sin? I think in God's eyes it is. You have allowed fear and depression to win. We must lean on the Lord and not unto our own understanding about the things that come upon us. Suicide is not the answer.

I don't know what denominations consider it, but I know why it is a sin. There is a natural order to life, to say the least. And suicide is a violation of that. No matter what diety you recognize, there is a natural order to your life, to all life, and you are needed in this world for something, for some reason, and that is why you are here in the first place.

The Comicosmies in World War II were people that believed their Japanese Emperor was their god, and their would crash their planes into American ships because they somehow believed it was honorable to kill themselves in battle in the name of their god. The Muslims believe that their god is Allah and if they kill themselves in battle they will go to a heaven where they can be drunk all the time and get a hangover and they'll have many many virgins to do whatever with, so they crash American passenger planes into American building so they can go to heaven.
Other than that, every other religion (and non-religious people)believe it is wrong to commit suicide.

Any one that accepts the 10 Commandments. "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is pretty straightforward.
