Ok, so I've grown up believing gay is wrong. I'm Roman Catholic. But the society around us is changing isn't it? Aren't people gradually becoming more aware and accepting of gays?
But everyone is always saying to us, God loves you no matter what and all of that. So if God really is so good, and so loving, accepting and forgiving, why are we all being taught to shun gays by the Church?
I'm sorry, I'm just so confused. What do you all think?

But is homosexuality wrong... or is it just different?
I will never give up my religion... but sometimes I wonder how much truth lies within it.

To the person who is comparing it to killers can kill, its not the same to me. Homosexuals aren't hurting anyone, they're just attracted to the opposite sex. Its not endangering a persons life or anything. But it really is interesting to see all your views.

It is confusing... when the people who shun homosexuals because of their religious belief, yet are accepting of divorces (which were also against the Word... I say "were" because it's obvious that they don't think it is against it), they accept adulterers - and in the Old Test an adulterer was treated the same way a homosexual was, stoned to death. There are a lot of things they are accepting of, yet seem to treat homosexuality as some sin that is far worse than any others. I view the whole thing as hypocritical and pathetic, really. It's a shame that they have decided to be so prejudice towards a group of people based on sexual preference and nothing else. And to call that "Righteous Judgement"... let's just say I can't see any Mercy or Justice in the way they treat homosexuals.

Note: Not all Christians do this. I have known some who are accepting of homosexuals and do not even so much as talk down to them. They treat them no differently than they treat anyone else. I admire Christians that can at least treat them the same as others, if for no other reason than I know they have to be getting crap from those Christians that think it's alright to treat "outsiders" as if they are less than human.

You are confused because you are not saved. The catholic church does not teach salvation through Jesus Christ, as I use to be a catholic but renounced the religion and am now a born again Bible believing Christian.
Being gay is called sodomy and is an abomination under God's conviction. God loves everyone but we send ourselves to hell by sinning without repentance. Also we must be born again John 3:3 says this and these are the words from Jesus. Any true born again, Bible believing Christian would not feel comfortable with a gay lifestyle, in fact there are no saved gays, because in order to be saved you have to give up that kind of sinful lifestyle and if a gay says they are saved, they are greatly deceived. Read about your religion and here is some information about gay lifestyle and God.

I think that what you are saying is very intelligent. Large numbers of christians are now accepting homosexuality and large numbers of christians are homosexual!!! Remeber that a number of interpretations of the bible are possible...don't feel limited by the catholic church. The most important thing in this life is to remember that we do not have the authority to judge others if they do nothing that hurts us.

Unconditional love is a psychological term that was invented by Maslow to describe the deepest need of man. The deepest need of man is not unconditional love, it is to know his creator and heavenly Father. We are separated from God by sin and so God had to create a condition that would allow us to be united with him again . That condition is our being cleansed from our sin by the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. When we know what it took for us to be reconciled to God then saying that he loves us unconditionally, that he loves us no matter what doesn't ring true. It does matter. Sin is still sin, even though it was paid for on the cross. It still separates us from God if we continue in it, if we don't repent of it.

Homosexuality is a choice. It's not a condition that people are born with. People decide to be gay even though they know that homosexuality is against God. Even if they have become blind to the truth and have convinced themselves that it's not against God. Continuing to live in sin, especially if you believe that God loves you unconditionally, is possible only if you are deceived.

The issue of homosexuality is being used today as a means to an end. Those who are deceived hope to silence the voice of repentance from sin forever by making it a law to speak out against sin, in any form. The only hope that people have for everlasting life in the presence of God is to hear the truth. That truth cries out for our voice to be used against sin and the effects of sin, which is death.

Christianity offers hope to individuals. It is not a religion or a system to manage the affairs of the world, it's a personal and intimate relationship with the God who created us, and each person comes to know God by hearing the truth. Giving voice to the truth means that you will be going against what is being accepted more and more in the world.

we are not being taught to stay away from the gays, we are being taught that it is wrong, It is sin. God is good and God is loving God but God HATES SIN!!!!! Whether it be drinking, lust, lying, cheating, or whatever.... If the person refuses to turn from their sin then yes as Christians we are to have nothing to do with them and their sin no more. It says so right in the Bible.

Well people are still people regardless if their Christian or Muslim etc...

The only thing I can think of is .... in the Bible,it scripts homosexuality is a sin.If a homosexual person is a true Christian they should know their lifestyle is not okay.Seriously,if you think it's okay, then it should make it okay for a killer to kill.

I'm sorry you are confused. Being a bible believing Christian, my devotion is to His word, and not compromising it. This does not mean that I am not compassionate about the struggle people who are homosexual go through. It means that what God calls a sin, is a sin.

Yes God loves, but Jesus, when He saved the woman from being stoned for adultery, gave her the admonition to go and sin no more. As believers, more than ever, I think it is very important not to allow the culture of the day to dictate if we stand on God's word. We need to stand, today, tomorrow, forever.

It's wrong, homosexuality I mean. Society changes. God does not change. It is impossible to be a homosexual and a Christian. Christ has the power to change everything. If a person does not change from being homosexual, then no matter what is said, that person does not contain the Spirit of Christ.

We dont shun gays, we urge them to change and repent. God still does love them but is sad they are commiting blasphemy before His eyes. But being honest, all of us sin. When we don't repent and try to change our sin is when it gets to be a big problem with God. He wouldnt have said several times throughout the Bible if He was just joking.
