SNY! This is beyond Yankees or Mets. The question asks for "New York baseball." That, to me, means coverage of the Yankees AND Mets. SportsNet New York provides in-depth coverage of all Metropolitan-area teams in all sports, not just the ones that pay the bills. You'll see an SNY mic flag involved in almost any New York sports story, but you can't say the same about YES.

SNY also has multiple daily studio shows that cover New York sports all around - Daily News Live at 5:00p, GEICO Sportsnite at 6:00p and again at 10:00p, and Sports New York at 1:00a with repeats throughout the morning.

So, if you're looking for all-around New York baseball coverage, it's gotta be SNY hands-down. YES never even tries to claim that you can "get your New York sports here!"

It really depends on which team you like, since each Network was created and tailored to carry a team: Yes - Yankees, SNY - Mets.

Though I am a Yankees fan (but watch both teams), I must honestly say that the SNY announcers and commentators in the studio are more objective with their reporting. While both networks' commentators obviously favor its team, the SNY broadcasters are not above criticizing the Mets for bad play, mistakes, etc.

The YES broadcasters did not get on the Yankees even in the midst of an 8-game losing streak! I mean, I am a Yankees fan, but if my team stinks at the moment, do not be afraid to say it, and to state the reasons/solutions.

SNY because it carried Mets games. YES broadcasters suck.

It depends on which team you like, Yankees or Mets.
I am a yankees fan so its YES, however, I wish that they would be shown on broadcast networks rather than special channels owned by cable companies.
