I agree with the others, you need to talk to a vet.
Call your local Humane Society. They usually have a list of vets that are not expensive. They will also know if there are any groups in your area that can help you with the care of your pet.

There are some human medications that can be given to dogs. You should talk to your vet about it. Just explain to them that you can't afford the high vet bills, and ask them the dose for some pain medication. Don't give ANYTHING until you talk to the vet. Certain medications are toxic to dogs. And the dosage for dogs in the medications that are safe are different than the dosage for humans. The veterinarian I work for gives clients this information when they can't afford the prescription medications. And the prescription medications are made specifically for dogs, so they do work better, and are healthier for you dog, but the OTC meds will be better than nothing. Good Luck.

There are none that can safely be used with out the authorization from a vet and the proper dosage amount prescribed.

While some human meds are usually safe there are some instances and some dogs where even those considered safe could be extremely dangerous to give.

The thing about using human medications is that even if they're okay to give to dogs, you need to know what dosage to give. You can give glucosamine to a dog for arthritis, but the kind packaged for humans is more expensive usually than what is packaged for dogs. Unless you just buy a whole bunch for yourself, I would just get the kind for dogs. You wouldn't have to consult a vet for the dosage amount since it would be right there on the bottle/package. Anything else should really be okayed by your vet.

The are actually quite a few, and it has nothing to do with being cheap. Look for a book at you local book store called "The First Aid Companion for Dogs and Cats" by Amy D. Shohai. I keep it close at and all the time. Off the top of my head, Benadryl and Pepto can be used for dogs.

you should in no way supply medicine on your canines, human or animal, without being directed to take action by skill of a vet. and particularly eye drops - eyes are very mushy and you should do a good number of injury in case you p.c.. the incorrect medicine. merely your vet can verify what varieties of eye drops your vet desires. many cases they do prescribe a product that replaced into initially packaged for human beings (althout no longer expired) - yet it relatively is not something you may merely p.c.. up on the drugstore without seeing the vet first. and relatively, you should no longer supply your canines youngster's Motrin. it relatively is not very effectual and has a extra suited danger of part consequences whilst in comparison with veterinary products. It won't kill your canines to offer as directed, yet you would be lots extra in all probability to reason abdomen upset than to offer discomfort alleviation with it. some vets do have human beings supply this - whether it relatively is not the suited thought in the international. in case you do not have faith me, call quite a few diverse vets and ask them, "could you advise ibuprofen for a canines over a diverse discomfort reliever?"
