Um, neither. According to the church, you're supposed to wait until marriage. Since you're both virgins, neither one of you should have AIDS.

I understand your frustration, but Catholics do not wish AIDS on anyone. Most Christians will tell you that premarital sex is a sin, and traditionally, the Catholic church is against birth control because it believes sex is for the sole purpose of producing babies. Obviously, parents and schools should provide children with education and means to protect themselves, but no one is legally stopping people from using condoms, and if you, as an adult, choose to have unprotected sex and contract HIV as a result, you have only yourself to blame.

The Pope has 2000 years of doctrine to protect. He is the guardian of the Catholic faith. As per the New Testament, the intimacy is to be shared between a man and his wife. That is what he is defending. Giving the go ahead to use contraceptive be like giving the go ahead for pre-marital sex and homosexual sex. That will never happen.
As Catholic, we are free to follow the Pope`s recommendations. They are additional guide lines to the New Testament teaching, they are not the word of God.
It is not the Pope`s job to save the world from it`s own destruction. AIDS is out of control because we (the industrial countries) have watched for decades the people of Africa die with our fingers crossed doing nothing hoping it would never cross the ocean. Now it has and we cry it`s the Pope`s fault.

They used to say comets were omens of evil. And many superstitions have a basis in fact. Some say the Black Plague hit Europe right after a comet passed. I wouldn't think every comet causes us problems. But since science thinks Life came here by comets hitting Earth and leaving chemicals. Some think, and I agree. That AIDS is a space born pathogen that entered our atmosphere after Earth passed through a comets tail. And settled in Africa as that was the side of the Earth facing it's tail when we passed through. Remember. The Earth moves through space at a speed of 10,000 mph!

Use common sense here. God said in Genesis, "...be fruitful and multiply." The Catholics believe we have a duty to multiply our species in accordance with Gods commands. However, God also tells us to avoid fornication, or having sex out of wedlock. Both of these commands are for our own benefit. You may freely choose to obey or disobey His commands, its up to you. That is why He gave us free will. If you do engage in premarital or extramarital sex, by all means, use the condom and protect yourself and your partner.

Greetings Friend,
In answer to your question, most genuine christians, followers of Christ, look beyond the here and now. The admonition of Scripture is to control carnal desires as a reasonable sacrifice to God. I agree, as a young person, that can be near impossible considering the particular stage of development, growth, along with present day societal norms. But like our earthly paternal custodians, our heavenly Father too desires to develop our lives to their most richest and most fullfilling potential.
With our best interest in view, He admonitions us to make life choices which would bring this about. I would suggest if you are not a practicing follower of Christ to discover some of the experiences of characters and personages in hebrew history and of course, in the new testment. There are accounts of many before grappling with the same issue of sex, church and faith.
If possible, do a google search of biblical admonitions and sex. And of course, ask God for direction, help for what is in your best interest for today and the future.
God Bless Friend

I'm Catholic and I support birth control. Most Catholics use and support birth control and they dismiss what the Church says in this position. You can't assume we all think the same and have no mind of our own.

While you make a valid point, I honestly don't see how a rejection of contraceptives equates to "holier than thou." And how retarded do you have to be to break the prohibition against premarital sex, but keep the prohibition against contraception?
Its ironic that you blame the Church when people commit acts that are prohibited by the Church! What's next? Blame the government for murder because they prohibit armed robbery?

In the eyes of God, the sin is the same - fornication. Unless you are married, then God does not look on that as sin, since you and your spouse are as one flesh. This is the word of God, and not the church.
Call it morally retarded if that pleases you. It only shows where your morality really is. Godly living is clearly a foreign concept to you, and living to please God never enters your mind. so go on and please yourself instead of God. Worry about paying the price for your rebellion and sexual immorality later.

Catholics have taken so much from the bible and twisted it with their own messed-up interpretations. Not wearing a condom is as bad as walking into the street without looking. Would God want you to do that?

Where a condom or AIDS..?
Seriously... condoms are another form of abortion... you are preventing a potential human life from being concieved..
If you insist on being a slut and refuse abstinence then you are choosing freely to take the chance with AIDS....
.. so go ahead if you get it its your choice.. you do have free will after all.
The catholic church does not say to get AIDS. It merely says dont where a condom and wait until marriage
