If you dont already know this Sunday is the first Sunday of the month which means Communion Sunday for some. I challenge you to search your heart this weekend and ready yourselves for this. this is done to remember his death. Will you search your heart before you partake?
1 Corinthians 11:28-29
A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

malak-- it is ok to cry. To think of what Jesus went through and not be upset, that is not human. At least you understand, and his stripes and broken body is not in vein!

This was one of the first tools my parents used in order to witness to me as a child. They made it a point to not allow me to partake of the service - explaining I hadn't accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, yet. ...So I was not a Christian yet.
It made me search for what was different between me and a Christian. I was eight when I finally understood I needed to pray to Jesus for forgiveness of my sins (little kid as I was) and ask Him to come live in my heart.
After I made my profession of faith and was baptized - that first communion was VERY special. ...As are all those since.
Peace.

Actually, the first century Christians partook of the communion EVERY Sunday.
Acts 20:7
"And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."
Notice it does not say the first Sunday of the month. It says the first day of the week and every week has a first day. Notice also it does not say the Sabbath. The first day of each week is Sunday.

I think too many people take communion without thinking about it. I use to cry every time, but have gotten myself a bit under control, it kinda defeats the purpose when everyone is looking at me like I'm a loon and taking the attention off what they're suppose to be doing.

I always do Kayla, I don't want to get sick or "fall asleep" like some of the Corinthians did and besides which I want to honor what Jesus did for me even if there wasn't such a possibility.

You must be one of them CJ (instead of JC) Christians.
Seems they wanna be partakers of death instead of life.
Not to mention being justified by the law is fallen from grace.
I also challenge you to search your own carnal black heart.
Christianity is about Christ: is the end of the law: Rom 10:4.
Do the will of God precedes receive the promise: Heb 10:26.
The will of God is notably "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice".
God NEVER desired sacrifice for sin; Not then, and not now.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Good question! And thanks for pointing out that we need to prepare to receive the Eucharist. For myself, I go to confession before I partake. God bless.

My church takes the Lord's Supper every Sunday (as often as you take of it, do it in remembrance of Me) and its always a humbling event and one I do with great reverance for Jesus sacrifice.
Thanks for calling it our remembrance! God bless!
