i need to know some pilates exercises. i dont need to know the dvds to i want some where i dont have to spend money and i can use stuff around the house to do the exercises if i have to. wat are some great exercises?

This is the person who purchased a Pilates Ball, took one day to inflate it and three months to sit on it! Their is a lot more to Pilates than just exercise. You have the correct breathing side, which is all important. You then have to work on your core strength, little bit complicated. You then have to learn to isolate certain muscle groups, like pelvic floor and abdomius whatever. It only took me three months one hour a week to learn how to do all this correctly. Once you can stabilise the hips, back and abdomen only then can you move into 'exercises'. However once you learn the correct technique, like riding a bicycle you never forget it and it remains with you for life. If you do not learn all this then the actual exercises can be dangerous and you can do more harm than good. I started Pilates as I was attending Physiothreapy and the Physiothreapist gave me a few simple exercises, Pilates style. However she 'suggested' I might like to learn and take it up, save me from the Hospital visits and so off I went. How bad was I? At 48 with Arthritis, the Pilates Instructor, also a Physiothreapist, would say 'In every class their is always one and its you'. I did not know my right arm from my left leg, was always in the wrong position, facing the wrong way and forget about standing on one leg with eyes closed. Now it is all a walk in the park and my health has improved along with my muscle mass. You need zero equipment for Pilates but I do recoomend the mat and my Ball is deflated and somewhere in storage. Their is plenty of information on the Internet, but I do advise you 'investing' in a Class, because it is a invesment for LIFE. Once you grasp the theory, the rest is really up to you. No equipment required, which is even better. You litrally use your own body weight to build muscle mass.
My favourite exercises? Leg slides, leg lifts, pelvic tilt, pelvic curl, chest lift, hundred prep, hundred, roll up, oblique lifts, wall glutes, back extension, to name but a few.

To explain them to you and also include all of the things you need to be conscious of when doing pilates would take a while. Proper breathing is important as well as posture and a lot of other things. It is very important to be doing Pilates right when you are doing it because doing it wrong can defeat the purpose. I strongly suggest at least getting the book Pilates for Dummies, or searching online for proper techniques. If you can't do this I don't suggest taking up pilates. But... I can't prevent you from doing it, so, other than what I've said, all I can tell you to do is go to www.youtube.com and search "pilates". You'll find a bunch of videos there. Good luck and be smart!
