I have a 10 year old terrier and she's acting weird. She was spayed before we got her, and I've never seen this before, but she's constantly licking herself. I think I saw discharge, too.

Does anyone know if she can get in heat if she's spayed?

No. Spayed animals absolutely do not get in heat, they don't have the hormones.

Are you absolutely sure she's spayed? i.e. did you take her there yourself (or your parents did) for the op? Or did you adopt her from somewhere?

If there's ANY doubt that she's spayed, be worried. Discharge from the vulva of older unspayed dogs usually means an infected uterus (pyometra) which is very serious indeed.

Personally, I would take her to the vet anyway - you know your dog best, if you feel she's acting weird there probably is something wrong.

canines do no longer circulate into warmth in the event that they're spayed. they are no longer getting classes, by fact they don't have menstrual cycles. they have estrus cycles. as far as bleeding after being spayed-it relatively is in all probability by canines having a UTI (urinary tract an infection) or different bladder/kidney difficulty. The indication your canines has a sickness like it is once you spot blood in the urine. It has no longer something to do with the canines being spayed, whether it does require vet interest at recent.

female dogs do not go into heat after they are spayed. this could come from a number of problems. you should take her to the vet and get her checked out to make sure that she is ok.

No, I don't think spayed dogs can get in heat. My dog constantly licks himself - and she just has a skin problem. (Not fleas - she itches all the time no matter what we give her). If she continues, take her to the vet.

if your dog has been spayed then she can not come into heat. She could have a yeast infection or a urinary track infection. take her to your vet and have it checked out!.

If the spay procedure is done properly, the dog will NOT go into heat any more.

NO A SPAYED DOG WILL NOT GO INTO HEAT.
SHE CAN GET A YEAST INFECTION WHICH CAUSES DISCHARGE..
