yes, the pressure is going to lead to the pain. You can call your pharmacist and ask this same question and you will get an answer from a professional. If you're not satisfied with that call your medical doctor. It's always best to check with professionals.

Pain caused by narrowing or constriction of the coronary arteries in a spasm is called angina and can also be described as pressure. The pain or pressure is the heart muscle slowly being deprived on blood flow and oxygen. Different people tolerate these differently. Nitroglycerin relaxes or dilates the coronary arteries, allowing blood flow to return to the cardiac muscle. You are usually advised to take 1 nitro every 5 minutes for 3 pills. If no relief to call 911. In this instance don't waste time calling your doctor, they will just advise you to call 911. If the nitro doesn't relieve the pain, you may have a blocked or occluded coronary artery that can lead to cardiac muscle death, otherwise known as a myocardial infarction. This can be fatal. A precaution when taking nitro, be able to lie down or at least sit down. Since nitro dilates the arteries, your blood pressure can drop causing you to become lightheaded and pass out. If you have pain or pressure, don't hesitate to take your nitro. Good Luck.

Cardiac pain can definitely feel like pressure. Often people having an M.I. (heart attack) say they feel like an elephant standing on their chest. If you feel the pressure and take a nitro tablet and it resolves, it was cardiac pain because the nitro won't help any other kind of pain.
