Disagree, people who commit heinous crimes such as raping and killing babies or killing people and eating them should be and deserve to be put to death.
If you live by the sword you will die by the sword.

I guess that depends on the circumstances. What the emotions were in the moment, the environment, etc. No its never right to kill someone, but there are times when its kill or be killed. If someone broke into my house and was going to harm my child, I would be in a rage and I would try to kill them, but at the same time, it isnt right that I am taking a life, but that doesnt mean I would be able to stop. So no its never right but sometimes in the world we live in there is no other choice, unless you let the person take your life. Look at the Amish, they would rather be killed than do violence against another human being... If only the world was that peaceful

The law is actually Thou shalt not murder.

There is a huge differance between premeditated or even in the heat of anger murder and killing someone to defend yourself or your loved ones.

Our military is not murdering when they are sent into combat.

Governments were established and yes the death penalty in the scripture to remove evil from the land as a deterernt to further crimes.

Shalom Alechem.

Agree totally. Murder, with regards to the law, is defined as the killing of another person. It is never okay to commit murder. Not even in the case of the death penalty, the state is being hypocritical. They can't claim something is wrong, i.e. murder, and then commit the same act on the person committing the wrong doing.

Agree. All murder is evil.

But some killings are justifiable and cannot be prevented without causing MORE harm to others:

Examples of justifiable death/murder:

self-defense (attempted rape, physical attack)

accident (dropped construction, building collapse)

defensive conflicts (war as a last resort)

Suicide/euthanasia (I believe that each person should have the freedom to end or continue their own life)

Disagree. Defense of self and others is a right and sometimes a duty.

Agree.
Pacifist Christians look to Christ's example, when he gave up his own life rather than fight to preserve it. He did not allow the disciples to fight on his behalf. He did not advocate the death penalty for crimes where it had traditionally been applied. He taught that loving one's neighbor or friends is not as far as we are called to go, but to love our enemies and pray for those that treat us wrongly. Not kill them. Self defense is not promoted as an acceptable reason to kill someone, in Christ's teaching.

I agree to some extent. But... If it has been proven without reasonable doubt that an individual has taken the life of another human being, then I believe that he/she has waived their rights... in which case it would be justifiable.

Never? I disagree. If it comes down to the life of the person threatening my life or the life of one of my family members, or their lives, I'm going to do my best to take that attacker's life from him or her.

I disagree
you could kill somebody if they where trying to kill or hurt you
plus if somebody killed a person who killed someone they loved i'd understand there reason.

I agree. Except in self-defense.There are things worse than death for criminals...I think child molesters should be castrated.

And whoever gave me a thumbs down...are you a child molester? Who else would give a thumbs down to cutting off the sex organ of someone who violated a child. Sicko.
