If we came from primates, the at what point along the evolution timeline should primates be declared people?? Should they have human rights? Should they go to the vet or doc. ?

Activists want chimp declared a 'person'
VIENNA, Austria - In some ways, Hiasl is like any other Viennese: He indulges a weakness for pastry, likes to paint and enjoys chilling out watching TV. But he doesn't care for coffee, and he isn't actually a person — at least not yet.

No, because humans are not related to apes/monkeys. Apes have always been apes and humans have always been humans.
It's ridiculous how the same people who want apes to be declared persons are the same people who want pre-born human babies to be declared non-persons"!
Apes, especially chimps, are vicious; they'll tear off your face and rip out your testicles, and eat your children if left unattended. They are extremely aggressive. They only prove their animalness. Their intelligence only makes them even more dangerous.

Primates ARE treated as people - when they are human primates.

Should CHIMPS be treated as people? Well, dont all living things deserve a little respect??? Im not saying they should be freed from zoos or given Blue Cross med benefits...but they deserve some respect, dont they?

Please note the religious division - only those that are religious say that humans are not primates. Those that are atheist/skeptics all say that all humans are primates - but not all primates are human.

We certainly do need to have a better sense of animals' rights. I wouldn't jump right to claiming to know what the best policies are, but the notion that animals don't have rights is simple immoral. I don't believe that we can even make a blanket statement that people's rights supercede those of animals in every case.

We definitely need to start having a serious discussion of this question in our public fora.

For example, Sleeper writes

"When they can run a society with laws, culture and abstract concepts like art and music then we'll talk".

So we should take human rights away from people who can't do those things? Play an instrument or die?

Chimpanzees should not be treated as humans or afforded ALL the rights of humans, but they are certainly entitled to a greater dignity than is afforded to them presently. I agree with Paul S: "The notion that animals don't have rights is simply immoral."

Except for the fact that we do not come from apes, and evolutionists have no proof of anything. Watch the discovery channel sometime... I was watching it the other day on snakes. The narrator said "The fangs of snakes are an amazing product of evolution. They are perfectly designed so that the can retract"

I started cracking up. If you have a design, there MUST be a designer. The theory of evolution is based on random chance, not design. Their views are wacky and purposely confusing.

You know it's funny you should mention that. I remember reviewing a documentary on a gorilla named Koko who was trained to communicate with human via sign language. After a while of watching her talk with people, interacting with her pet kitty, and even making an argument for why her keepers should let her have a baby I became convinced that she was just as much a person as any I have ever seen. Maybe primates really are people.

You can treat them however you want, but they're not people.

They didn't slowly form into sub humanoids that led to humans...

Oh... you want facts for that?

ok.

Of course any die hard believer in Evolution will ignore the facts... and pass them off as false... and then proceed to call the questioner of the theory a "backward idiot".

Why? Cause they can't acknowledge the facts... that's why.

Activists, in my opinion, is/are poor individuals not playing cards with a full deck, though their hearts are in the right place. I do believe that we are responsible for their health and well being!

No, as they are not human. We are primates like they are, but we're a different species. Different species deserve different treatments.
