the taxi ride itself cost about 250 baht, but in addition to that your pay for tolls. their are two one 25 baht toll and one 40 baht toll, also the airport taxi service charge an additional 50 baht. express way traffic isn't that bad at that time of day on a sunday, you may have some traffic after you get off the express way going to Khao San Road but nothing like on a weekday morning or afternoon rush.

Khao San Rd. is on the other side of Central BKK from Suvarnahumi Airtport, expect to pay a metered taxi about 250 baht, if you go down to the taxi stand on the lower level you will pay an extra 50 baht. The best thing is to go up to the departure level, walk across the road to where the taxis are unloading passengers and take one of these taxis, you will not have to pay the 50 baht airport fee. Do not try to negotiate a fare, you will pay more than the metered rate, just go for the metered rate. and no, you cannot take a tuk-tuk from the airport, nor would you want to, and yes, small tips are aprreciated and expected.

It took about an hour to ride from Khao San to the airport in a taxi. We did not take the toll roads, so there was more traffic than if we had. It took about 250 baht, but we did have to haggle with several drivers to get that price.

Go up to departures to avoid the standing airport taxi charge.

When you get in the taxi, the driver should turn on the meter. If he does not, it is best not to negotiate, just say "meter" and failing that just get another cab .

It will cost you 250 Baht plus a tollway charge of 40 Baht which you have to pay. If the traffic is very bad, obviously the meter will tick up a little.

You should be paying within 200-300bahts in all. There will be a 50baht service charge and espressway toll that you will need to the taxi meter charge for your trip, if you take a cab from the public taxi service stand.

Just exit the terminal and turn left till you see a taxi-Q. Let the staff know your destination and you will be assigned a taxi. This is the best and safe way.

My place is around 1 km farther than Kaosan Road from Suvanabhumi airport (cross the Chao Phaya River via Pin Kloa bridge). The taxi fare I paid during the early morning rush hour last week was 250 + 50 + 25 + 40 Bht. It took me ~ 50 min. due to traffic jammed on the toll road.

250 bht - meter reading
50 bht. - Surcharge from airport
25 and 40 bht are tolls (via motorway).

Note: Taxi may take either Motor Way or Bangna -Trad HW/Toll road to the city. For Khao Sarn road, the shortest route is via motor way not Bangna - Trad HW

Just go to the meter taxi stand (follow the signs). They will keep track of license plate, driver name and destination for records and give you a copy (you can report any mishap to them if anything goes wrong).

Welcome to Thailand

When you arrive, go downstairs to where the meter taxis are - don't get caught by the limousine touts and don't go straight out to where the limousines are waiting - they will cost you about 700 Baht. The meter taxi fare should be no more than about a fiver (150 - 250 Baht) and you are not expected to give a tip.

to most places it is a standard 600bahts. Not sure that you can get a tuk tuk but there is bus stops outside which could get you into town somewhere and then get a tuk tuk. The only good thing about the taxi is that i booked them to return to the airport and they were spot on in returning and helping us at the other end as it was about 4 in the morning that we had to leave bangkok. But in town use a tuk tuk all the time , they are great but barter

As little as possible. Don't just pay what they ask. You have to barter a price. Learn some words before you go, so that you can barter, they expect it.
