Abraham lived in a different time.

The Bible says that God's Word does not change.... and Joseph smith changed what the Bible says.

Poligamy happened because men died during the travel to Utah. Leaving too many women without spouses. So the Mormons had a prophecy that it was ok to have more than one wife. But when congress would not accept Utah as a state because of poligamy, suddenly it wasn't ok by prophacy.

Abraham and his son Isaac were neither prophets nor were they adulterers (by the standard of the time). The distinctions are more in terms of their faith in God. Abraham failed to trust God for a time and let his wife talk him into getting with her handmaiden, but then was faithful to risk killing his own son Isaac because he had grown to trust God completely.

I dont think mormons are crazy either...my faith teaches me that polygamy is wrong though.

although it was not as socially unacceptable back in the day of Abraham to have mistresses, it was no more acceptable to the Lord than when Joseph Smith did it. The Bible never condones adultery in any form.

To keep things in perspective in the time of Abraham it was not uncommon for a man to have more than one wife or if a wife could not bar children for her to give her maid to her husband to have children by so as to preserve the family name and all Israelite families wanted to have children so as to hopefully be the one through whom the promised Messiah would come and pologamy wasnt outlawed untill About Jesus time other than Jesus the LAST LEGITIMATE HUMAN PROPHET WHO WROTE PROPHETICALLY WAS THE APOSTLE JOHN WHO WROTE REVELATION IN 96 C.E. AND DIES IN 98 C.E. BECAUSE JESUS SAID HE WAS NO LONGER USING SUCH AS WE HAVE THE BIBLE AND THE " FAITHFULL AND DISCREET SLAVE CLASS " as outlined at Matt 24:45-47 and no single person has beem one since Jesus day untill now nor will there ever be a need for one again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is nothing that says prophets cannot be adulterers. (And, if there is, it is incorrect.)
