No.

We all have different God-given vocations.

A few of us are called to Holy Orders.
A few of us are called to monastic life or religious communities.
Most of us are called to the laity.

The 'laity' is the faithful, who by Baptism are
+ Incorporated into Christ
+ Integrated into the People of God
+ Made sharers in their particular way in the priestly, prophetic, and kingly office of Christ

Lay believers have their own part to play in the mission of the whole Christian people in the Church and in the World.

With love in Christ.

It depends on your frame of reference. For me the reference is the bible which is the opposite of this. Jesus said to go help people. Not hide from them. But I have friends who were raise Orthodox who believe this is a better thing to do. Their reference is the church teachings.
