Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves to be the one true religion, and so (by definition) all other religions are false. Of course, Jehovah God and Jesus Christ determine the relative merits of each individual and so no human is in a position to remark authoritatively on another individual's potential for salvation.

As individuals, many Witnesses note that themselves and adherents of Mormonism have a reputation for neighborliness and godly love which is too uncommon among self-described Christians.

(John 13:34-35) I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”

It is also true that Mormonism has managed to recognize a few of the obvious bible truths that continue to evade most of Christendom, such as recognizing that Jesus the Son is a distinct person from God the Father.

(Mark 13:32) Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father.

(John 20:17) Jesus said to her: “...For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.’”

Also, it is interesting that only Jehovah's Witness and Mormonism have any real program of lay-ministry in which every adherent is encouraged to preach.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

While "Mormonism" is not a single religion, the tolerance by 'Latter-day Saints' of pagan holiday celebrations, warfare, and nationalism are among the beliefs which Jehovah's Witnesses feel are incompatible with true worship.

The "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" (the official name of the religion) is relatively unique in understanding the bible to teach that God's Kingdom by Christ Jesus is a real government which will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

JW's beliefs are based squarely on the Bible. Like the Catholic church, which refuses to accept the Bible as the only authority on religious beliefs, Mormons insist that there are other authorities equal to the Bible. This view is vital to any religion that has teachings lacking Biblical support.

Jehovah's Witnesses, young and old, engage in the preaching ministry as outlined by Jesus at Matt. 28:19, 20. In Mormonism, young males may engage in a public ministry for a time, before they stop. Other church members are not required to preach.

A major difference is that we base our beliefs only on the Bible, whereas Mormons have another Book. And we are firmly non-political and do not fight in wars. A Mormon is running for President and they do fight and kill in wars.

I think it is strange that we are compared to Mormons so often. We are really very dissimilar.

Johnny: White people only?! Are you serious? Do you know how many Jehovah's' Witnesses there are worldwide? Nearly 7 million. In over 235 countries. White people only? Please!

THA: Remember that marriage will be forever for those of the great crowd who are married. Those of the great crowd will have the opportunity to never die at all. And only death severs marriage bonds. :)

guitarpicker: You said to let you know if you were wrong.

You said: "JW: Do not celebrate special occasions except for Christmas."

We do not celebrate Christmas. We commemorate the Memorial of Jesus' death annually.

You said: "JW: Does not recognize the importance of a priesthood."

The 144,000 are kings and priests. They are spiritual Israelites, the Israel of God.

You said "JW: Believe in a different order of the Trinity or Godhead."

We do not believe in any form of the Trinity. The holy spirit is not a person, and Jehovah and Jesus are two distinct individuals.

You said: "JW: Uses only their version of the Holy Bible."

The New World Translation is not a version, it is a translation. We are willing to use any version or translation in studying the Bible with an individual. We prefer the NWT because it restores the divine name.

I can only talk for me. I am a Witness....I was taught to stick to the bible as God's word. People of all nations and ethnic backgrounds are welcome at the Kingdom Hall. The truth is free to all. Bible studies are free...No plate is passed.....Children and parents all learn as a family. It is open to the public..anyone can attend. You will find kindness, and love at the Hall. We all learn the same thing at the same time all around the earth and all speak in agreement.
We all worship Jehovah God and walk in the footsteps of His son Jesus Christ and will soon live on the paradise earth.
There will be some from earth to go to heaven. Jesus has picked some to rule with him. No others will be going as the earth was made for man....and heaven was made for the angels.

The main commonality is that both religions believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Other than that there exists many differences such as:

JW: Do not celebrate special occasions.*
LDS: Celebrate all worthwhile occasions.
JW: Do not support their country in the defense of the nation and the voting laws for the nation's leaders.
LDS: Serve honorably in all the armed forces and votes.
JW: Does not recognize the same priesthood.*
LDS: This Church holds the true priesthood of God.
JW: Believe the 144,000, kings and priests, are the only ones to inherit the kingdom of heaven.*
LDS: Believe the 144,000 are ordained high priests that will labor and preach to the world at the Second Coming of Christ.
JW: Do not believe in a Trinity or Godhead.*
LDS: Believe, and know, that there are three distinct holy personages in the Godhead--God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and the Holy Ghost.
JW: Does not sanction blood transfusions to help the sick.
LDS: Gives freely of their blood in blood drives and in other avenues.
JW: Uses their modernized translated version of the Holy Bible.*
LDS: Uses the KJV of the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the teachings and writings of the prophets.
JW: Believe that Jehovah is God the Father.
LDS: Believe that Jehovah is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and God of this earth through the divine investiture of the Father.

Both religions proselytize.

The astericks above indicate changes I made after receiving a message about JW beliefs that I had erringly posted.

Added: In reply to Tidal's questions please refer to Genesis 3: 21 about the undergarments and 1 Corinthians 15: 40-42 concerning the degrees of glory.

They are both cults. The main similarity is that they both follow blindly a couple of men who claim to be the prophets and the mouthpiece of God. The Jehovahs follow blindly the watch tower who make up and change the bible to suit their sick beliefs. The other s the Mormons have prophets who in the past have taught that it is ok to have lots of wives even if they arebarely teenagers.

Jesus stated that we are to cut up ourselves from the international and that the international could be keen on there very own. J.W's have accomplished merely that. we don't take part in politics and we don't keep the pagan holiday journeys of this international. fairly we keep on with what the Bible teaches and that's to evangelise the forged information of the dominion (Matthew 28:19:20) To be Mormon to me seems no diverse than the different Christian faith. listed under are the similarities: a million. All Christian faith's instruct that guy has a spirit that leaves him at loss of existence and travels someplace like heaven or hell or in spite of degree of heaven you have earned. whether it relatively is not a Bible coaching it replaced into stepped forward in to Christianity in the 4th century mixing Greek philosophy with Christianity. don't have faith me look it up. 2. All Christian religions take part in politics. Jesus informed us that his existence replaced right into a variety for us to maintain on with heavily. Did he become in contact with politics? No! whilst they tried to snatch him and make him king he fled and prefer i stated in the previous he informed his followers to cut up themselves from something of the international. 3. All Christian religions supply there honor to Jesus Christ. definite we ought to continuously appreciate and honor Jesus yet he continuously pointed giving the honor to his father Jehovah. once you suspect in a trinity or that the call of God in the previous testomony grew to become the call Jesus in the hot testomony you're taking that honor faraway from the place it rightly belongs. So those are merely some examples of how the LDS faith isn't any diverse than any others. There are extra examples available. the element is that it relatively is little ask your self that the LDS have grown lots speedier considering you somewhat do no longer ought to have faith any diverse from something. i will additionally remind you of the place Jesus stated That huge is the line maximum appropriate off in to destruction and a good number of incorporate those looking it yet cramped and narrow is the line maximum appropriate to existence and few are looking it.

JW do not:
-Celebrate christmas nor any other holiday with it's basis in pagan celebrations.
-Believe in any form of trinity.

The NWT is not a version. It is a direct translation of the original.

Everything the witnesses believe in is based on the bible. Many other religions base their beliefs on traditions of men, including the LDS. Where in the bible does it mention 3 levels of heaven or having to wear "sacred" undergarments?

Other than sending out missionaries and believing in the Bible there is not much more that is similar. Even the method of sending missionaries is quite different. The doctrines are very different. Jehovah's Witnesses seem to place a huge portion of their beliefs on the Book of Revelation. Mormon's believe in ALL of the Bible plus the Book of Mormon and revelation coming from living prophets and apostles.
