Its just a feeling. Say you went to a new resturant or something and when you get there you may say to yourself, it seems like I've been here b4. Or if somebody does something and you're like I've seen you do that somewhere. Thats deja vu....a feeling of seeing something or hearing something again that you prolly havent seen but u feel like you have.

Well, here's my little "theory"on it. Picture life as a river. You're just floating along down the river and every once in a while you hit a little whirlpool type thing(I'm blanking on the actual name) where you hit a spot and then you circle back around and you hit it again therefore you've already seen it and you experience deja vu. These circles you go in can last for a split second or much longer. Some people hit these whirlpools a lot and some avoid them at all times. That's about it. Hope that answered your question.

It is best described as your brain taking a "micro-nap". In other terms, your brain shuts down for a fraction of a second. Meanwhile, things are still happening around you while your brain is off duty. When it comes back on line, the information that it missed, is felt as having happened before, or a familiar sensation. Once it catches up to the current pace, the feeling goes away.

It is your long term memory accessing your short term memory...confusing you in the process that you are experiencing the future as the present.

It's just a feeling. It doesn't "work" in any particular way. Nobody completely understands why it happens. Read this:
