The 144,000 are not those who will be saved, but rather are people who are going to be saved and be used of God to save many others. In context, these 144,000 will all be Jewish males, and 12,000 will come from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, making 144,000.

Those are Jewish converts who will spread the word. Not Jehovahs Witnesses...Read Revelations the 144000 will be the 12000 from each tribes of Isreal.Their will be may saints(Ala The Left Behind books) made in the Trib.Theirs also a couple billion that are(Past, present, and future) in heaven right now.Considering their also people being Born Again ever second of the day in some place in the world 144000 would seem small by even God's measurement.

Here's the breakdown:
12,000 sealed from Judah
12,000 from Reuban
12,000 from Gad
12,000 from Asher
12,000 from Napthtali
12,000 from Manasseh
12,000 from Simeon
12,000 from Levi
12,000 from Issachar
12,000 from Zebulun
12,000 from Joeseph
12,000 from Benjamin

Im not entirely sure to be honest, however I would think that god would realize that there are more than that many good people left in the world. We have to remember that the Bible was written by humans so we could have copied something wrong, or at the time it was written that was the estimate. I think the real answer will come when its time to see who is saved. I may not have been much help... but I tried :) Have a great weekend!

numbers where very important in a symbolic way in the bible, for example when jesus appeared to the apostles on the shore of tiberias we find that the author mentions by name some of the apostles and the others are refered to as "another couple of ones" the author was making the band add up to the special number(i forget the exact number). i nthis same event they caught 153 fish, scholars for many years didn't know the significance of this number but later discovered that in this particular community there were 153 christian communities. another point to remember is that in those days 144,000 was a very large number adn it could indicate that a very large number will be saved not just 144,000. the reference for the number of fish and apostles can be found in john chapter 21 new american bible. so to answer the number 144,000 is symbolic. you will find that all of revelations is symbolic and not to be taken literally. most events in revelations are believed to have already occured but still indicates the continuous spiritual fight against good and evil. for catholics there are alot of similiarities to be found between the mass and revelations aswell.

Considering that it was the Catholic Church that gave the Canon of Scripture and preserved in thoughout the centuries. It would hardly say that it is the 7th Day Adventists or Jehovah 's Witnesses who will be the 144,000. They were not even around in those days. Jesus desired that all would be saved, so there is the possibilty of that, it's up to us!

That number is the 12 tribes of Israel. So these Jews evangelise the world in revelation. Differ by one tribe to the old testament as this is a sign of Gods grace. You can look all this up with a good Bible and a concordance.

JWs will say this is them. Or part of them. Jws are part of an organisation run by a group of men who over the years have made mistakes and then put it down to being new light so they have an excuse for false prophecy. The Bible says have nothing to do with false prophets which the organisation is. So I don't really understand why people stay. Ummmmm unless they don't understand what a false prophet is. I will have to think about that one.

This is speaking about Israel during the tribulation times, not about our present time the church age.
During the tribulation 12,000 men from each of the tribes of Israel will teach and preach Jesus. It will be like a 144, 000 Pauls preaching and great multitudes of people will be saved.

This in no way represents the millions that have recieved Christ as Savior, it is talking about the tribulation in the end times.
Look at Revelation chapter 7
God bless!

Right now the date is 7 elul 5775 on the Hebrew calendar. God s plan encompasses 7000 years, taken from the creation week of seven days and ending on the Sabbath which is Saturday not Sunday.
2 Peter 3:8 - Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that a single day is like a thousand years with the Lord and a thousand years are like a single day.
The world unwittingly worships the wrong gods and not the true God. The 144,000 are the servants of God who are faithful to all of His laws -- all 10 of His commandments. God wants the whole world to have eternal life but there is a definite order to the way things go down. I’m sorry I’m jumping all over the place.
Let me get back to God’s plan. His objective is to create perfect character in humans. For a vast majority of the world that is not possible. Mainly because they think they know what is best for them and not their heavenly Father.
The 144,000 will not be Jewish, even the Jews are off in their worshipping of God. The 144,000 won’t be any other denomination of believers. Jesus and the apostles never referred to themselves as Christians. Names are very important. The disciples called each other, "brethren", "disciples", "apostles", "servants", "believers", "followers", "the faithful", "the elect", "the called", and "saints." We can also identify ourselves as "bondservants" of Christ.

The 144,000 are mentioned three times in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 7:3-8 (ESV)
"Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the servants of God on their foreheads." And I heard the number of the sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel

Revelation 14:1 (ESV)
“ Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. ”

Revelation 14:3 (ESV)
“ And they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.

The numbers 12,000 and 144,000 are variously interpreted in traditional Christianity. Some, taking the numbers in Revelation to be symbolic, believe it represents all of God's people throughout history in the heavenly Church. Others insist the numbers 12,000 and 144,000 are literal numbers and that the 144,000 people who are descendants of Jacob (also called Israel in the Bible) have a distinct role at the time of the end of the world.

The bible does not say that only 144,000 will be saved. In John's vision, he saw 144,000 from the tribes of Israel before the throne. He also saw countless numbers of people from every tongue and nation. Revelations 7

I don't think it's a literal number. The Bible never counted women and children. Like, when Jesus fed 5,000 people with bread and fish, there were actually tons more, but the writer only counted the men. So, maybe the 144,000 doesn't include all of the people that will be saved. It's a thought anyway. I don't believe in the Rapture, so it's just supposition for me.
