And why is this always in quotation marks?

*chuckle* SOME people. Some people who won't accept as valid anything which fails to validate their currently held conceptions. Some people who don't want to hear about the REAL theories on the beginnings of the universe. Some people who don't even understand what a SCIENTIFIC theory really is.

Some people who'd rather play the victim and spend all day telling everyone else that they're big stupid dumb-dumb heads.

I don't recall ever having seen "just happened" in quotations until reading your question.

Christians who like to oversimplify things they don't understand, and think that something "just happening" is more silly than a magical being saying "poof" to make everything happen.

They put it in quotes to make it look like they're quoting scientists. This makes it a more effective straw-man.

I think that was the Christians. They said their god just "created" it out of "nothing". In other words, it just happened.

I think that's the way religious people translate a concept they do not understand.

The big bang theory says it "just happened"...

And I put this in quotes because I don't really know it means.
