The US sold some dual use helicopters to Iraq. At best they could have been used as air ambulances. The then Warsaw Pact sold T82, T72 tanks & loads more bits that kill & go bang. The French sold Roland radar defences & Mirage planes. Look at the footage from the |Iran/Iraq war, the first Gulf war & the 2003 intervention. Then check Janes Big Guns or whatever. See Wiki for more details. Chinese Silkworm, SCUD, missiles;the list goes on. The US sold or gave arms to many tyrants, this just was not one of them.
The Russians & French have still not been paid. My Russian, French & Iraqi friends are aware of the origins of the arms. Where & how did the story change?

Good question. I've always wondered the same thing. Sipri.org has a very good history of who armed Iraq. The USA ranks right up there with Denmark on countries who supplied arms to Saddam. I have yet to see one person condemning those evil greedy Danes for their role in Saddam's rise to power.

How do you think they bought a lot of those weapons from Russia, France, China, etc? With US money.

Oh, and those WMDs that Saddam used? The supposed main reason why we invaded? The US shipped very large amounts of chemical and biological agents used in those WMDs. Another reason why it was BS that we invaded, we gave him the necessary materials to make the WMDs in the first place.

The majority of the hardware we gave to Iraq was dual-use items like mainframe computers, helicopters, and chemicals........things that could be used for civilian applications but just as easily used for military applications.

Oh, and one of those biological agents that Iraq got from the US? ANTHRAX.

Don't know much about UK contributions, but the US definitely was involved, and it's not any big secret.
