seriously.
Many religious traditions practiced by people when promoting thier religion have become part of thier religion, but are not in the bible, many holidays celebrate things that were not "commanded" in that religion's original doccument.
do you think terrorism by serious muslims, and support of terrorism (by moderate muslims) has become a tradition in this fasion.
It would seem to have all the trappings of it.
religiously based, practiced regularly by a group or sect of the religion as a whole or within that religion.
It celebrates that religion and has its traditions and beliefs steeped in religion.

george,
priests are not "homos" they are child rapists, get your facts straight.
And muslims have not been "attacked" for years. No american has strapped a bomb to his chest and stepped in a muslim public event or mosque, etc.

Ok, I'm not referring to all acts of killing as terrorism.
The quaron might say that, but does it say "attack the innocents?" or does it imply that they be conquered?
Either way, neither is morally justifyable, but terrorism as they practice it is far far worse.

paul C, while your logic is sound- we need less blind people around.
that wasn't the question of how the dogma of a specific belief system became violent. More of a study of it from a historical point of view.

I am becoming more and more apathetic of anyone and anything which attaches itself to god or gods in any way. If a bomb goes off in the news, or if a storm happens and kills many people, I find myself hoping they were 'god fearing' and 'pious'.
Do you really think there is anything about them worth being 'serious' about? I can't take them seriously at all, except to avoid them whenever possible.
They are nothing but a loud crashing noise. I prefer crickets chirping. At least they have good cause to.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent
Salaam and Hello.
Terrorism and support of terrorism are based on ignorance, plain and simple. There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world, and the vast majority of them do not support terrorism in any way. Any practice that is forbidden in Islam would remain forbidden no matter how many misguided people believed in it, so the fact that there are a number of people who call themselves Muslim who do support terrorism does not affect the validity of Islam. The true scholars and teachers of Islam will never teach that terrorism is acceptable. It is an unfortunate truth that the Muslims are in a bad place right now, but it is not because of Islam. It is because we are really not living our lives according to Islam. Nations that are supposedly Islamic are not ruling according to what Allah and His Messenger taught, and corruption and strife are endemic. These sad truths do not affect the truth of Islam. There is only One God, and all the Messengers throughout the span of man's time on this Earth all brought the same message. The message will remain even if the last believer leaves this earth. I invite sincere people to get past the media bias and the actual ignorance of some of my brothers and sisters and truly find out what the teachings of Islam are. I'm sure you will be surprised.

The vast majority of Muslims educated or not, are not able to check by themselves what the original Quran actually says. So they are been manipulated by their clerics. It's forbidden for Muslims to translate the Quran and the only version accepted as truthful is written in Old Classical Arabic, language that is no longer spoken by anyone. The Arabic of today is not even close to the language of the Quran. Only Muslim clerics "can read and interpret" what the Quran actually says and they know that the population cannot challenge whatever they say because the population is not able to read the truthful and only accepted version by themselves. I have a translated version of the Quran, and no where it says that they are supposed to kill inocents or much less to blow themselves up.

Alright, if you want an honest answer for this you need to go to the Quran, right? So, what does the Quran say about this. In Short: The Quran tells Muslims that they should kill Christians and Jews. Is that terrorism? I think so. Most refer to Muslim Terrorists as being 'radical', but in reality they are the ones who hold to the Quran. In fact, many of these 'radical' Muslims see most American 'Muslims' to be infidels just like Jews and Christians and want to kill them too. Most American Muslims will claim that Islam is a peaceful religion, but they aren't holding true to the Quran.
Summary. Jesus Christ teaches Love and Salvation for all. Bible-based Christians seek to profess this. Anything short of Love [God's definition, not yours] is falling short of God's standards. The Quran teaches to destroy the infidels and 'good Muslims' do just that. Anything short falls short of what the Quran demands.

The origin of Christianity was Jesus Christ and the 12 Apostles.
It was a spread as religion of inner peace and personal strength, promoting God as a loving parent who watched over His unruly children.
Constantine took Christianity to the levels of violence through the Crusades. Hopefully, Christianity is back to being a faith system based upon the "peace that surpasses all understanding" and a profound trust in God our Savior.
Islam, however, and in particular their prophet Muhammad, has always had a violent element. With a true zeal for Allah, violence is taught as an alternative method of converting believers to Islam. A simple review of history unveils a sinister truth that where ever Islam spread, violence came with it until the population submitted to it.

In the case of Islam, it's the other way around. The founder of the faith plainly and repeatedly told the faithful that they were to fight in the cause of Allah. It was over the centuries that ahadith and tradition arose to soften and explain this away.
The radical Muslim is radical only in the latin sense of the word: radix means root, and that's all they are doing is getting back to the roots of the faith.
Interestingly, the Koran claims of itself sufficiency and admonishes against adding to it in an attempt to explain it. That being the case, the only true Muslim is the radical.
May God help us all.

They must fight the infidels in Allah's cause and in the process they will slay the infidels and be slain themselves [Koran 9:111] "Radical Muslims", as we call them, are actually true followers of Islam.
