You accuse us Christians of having a persecution complex and yet you constantly walk around feeling sorry for yourselves and whining about being persecuted just as much, if not more. Why can't you people ever grow up? Why don't you go form your own little self-righteous, pseudo-intellectual atheist country somewhere?

Why are atheist on R&S? It don't make sense. Christians don't go around chasing atheist.

This debate of being christian nation does not make sense either. The early settlers came to America to escape religious persecution from the catholic church. We are (were) one nation under God. In God we trust. The majority of the south still believes in God.

May God bless America.

You do realise that America (I'm assuming you're talking about America) isn't a Christian nation, right? Freedom of religion, and all that. In fact, the vast majority of the founding fathers weren't Christian... theists, pantheists, atheists... a few Christians, but not many... most of whom were freemasons. A few founding fathers (Benjamin Franklin being a great example - a Deist who vehemently argued that organized religion jeopardised and corrupted morality) were actually very much anti-Christian. Keep in mind, this country was initially populated (by European settlers) to get away from strict Christian guidelines... the whole "this is a Christian nation" and persection of non-Christians didn't really come around until some time after the Revolutionary War. *shrug*

So actually, this is a nation founded by atheists, theists, deists, and those who don't adhere to any religion, so you Christians are on thin ice - you're lucky we let you stay here. =)

Despite this, Christianity has infiltrated itself into American lifestyle more and more. Christianity is the dominant religion - so HOW are you persecuted? As someone else mentioned, keeping schools, public places, etc... religious neutral isn't persecution - it's an effort to protect every other religion from being persecuted by Christians (ie: the religious majority).

Treaty of Tripoli! Look it up. The USA is NOT a "Christian nation." If it was, the first commandment would be law, for one thing. Explain how that managed to not make it into the Constitution if this is such a "Christian nation," buddy.

If the USA was a Christian theocracy, you'd have a point. It doesn't, so your question should turn on YOURSELF...if you're so whiny that you can't turn your myths into everyone's laws, why don't you move to a theocracy? 'Cause here in the USA, we have freedom of/from religion, and separation of church and state.

You _do_ have a persecution complex. You perceive anything in favor of treating all people/religions equally as persecution. If we insist that public schools remain religiously neutral, you say you're persecuted. Even if we allow Wiccan soldiers to have Wiccan symbols on their graves, you cry persecution. It's you fools that need to grow up.

This is not YOUR country.

Pure ignorance. Because if you don't believe in what they believe in, you must be some kind of demon. Because they were taught to "respect" others. But if your beliefs don't agree with theirs, they will discriminate you. Most of these Christians think that atheists are serial killers or people that just want to hurt others. When honestly, you can't even tell if a person is an atheist or not. I don't see why they have a problem with other people's beliefs, because it doesn't interfere in a friendship unless you're a nun. Most Christians come here to say that we're all bad people, when they need to take a hard look at themselves before judging us for our PERSONAL beliefs.

America is free nation where everyone has a right to have their own beliefs. I think the Bill of Rights and Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment make it clear. If you are not comfortable with religious freedom, you can move to a country like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan!

First of all, we are not whining. Second, our own president doesn't consider atheists American citizens. So yes, we do have a reason to feel discriminated against, in our so-called free country, in more ways than this one alone. We don't need to form a self-righteous country. We'll leave the self-righteousness to the religious. We will always continue to defy the lies so long as you keep pushing it on us. You keep it to yourself and we'll do the same.

All religion must die. Every major battle in the history of mankind was brought on by a religious ideal. You will be responsible for the death of this planet. Atheists don't feel discriminated against, just bombarded with all of your religious rhetoric and imposing phantom father figures in the sky.

We did. We created a country were all were free to believe or not believe as they chose, where all men were created equal, and endowed with inalienable rights. We founded it on the basis of Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness. It was called America.
