I sighted 4 male and 3 female blue headed birds in Caliente, NV and have never seen any like it before. Some reddish colored sparrows accompanied them. Beautiful birds can anyone tell me where they come from?

Were these Western Bluebirds?

Other birds with blue that would be in NV:
Blue Grosbeak :

Lazuli Bunting:

I am assuming the red sparrows you saw were House Finches:

I am trying to ID one that just showed up in my feeder in Reno, NV. I write to assure you and show others you are not crazy, they are really sparrows and truly cobalt blue. Mine is just the head. It is gorgeous. I will try for a picture. I am only finding your picture so far and no info. That's why I am backing you up. I'll keep searching and trying to get another picture.

Not that familiar with birds in the Western US, but try a gray-crowned rosy finch: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Gray-crowned_Rosy-Finch.html

There are some different subspecies, some with more red on them: http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/rsgis2/Search/Display.asp?FlNm=leucteph
