the Lamb"; but *anyone* is welcome to take a shot at answering it: Which of you actually believe that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, AKA: Mormons, are Christians? I was appalled by a caller on Rush Limbaugh's program today, who said she thought they *were*, because in the front of their version of a "bible" - the Book of Mormon, it was stated that this was *another* "gospel" of Jesus Christ. My Bible states: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book." Revelation, 22:18,19 (NIV)

I have known Mormons most of my life, dated a Mormon girl in 1958, talked to Mormon "Elders" extensively, roomed for one quarter at Ohio State University with a Mormon family, own a Book of Mormon and a Doctrine and Covenants/Pearl of Great Price.

Mormons have historically considered American Indians to be the "Lost Tribes of Israel" and considered Negroes to be descendents of Ham, who "uncovered the nakedness" of his father, Noah, and were thus condemned to be black, inferior to other races and not allowed to become Mormons, until recently.

Hey "daisymae", I've heard *that* old argument before! But, what is really crucial is: are *you* and I "born again" *and* "washed in the Blood of the Lamb"? Romans 10:9 states: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (NIV)

Mormons are close but....no cigar.

Scripture make no mention of the angel moroni.....
It makes no mention of stone tablets in upstate New York....
It makes no mention of a bible supplement.....
And it makes no mention of salvation by works.....(it's salvation UNTO good works)

Being "born back" is what seperates the real Christians from the pretend converts. The Bible makes it sparkling that there'll be pretend converts. The time period is Biblical and should be used. The Holy Spirit will open eyes at the same time as it concerns the note of God. there are a decision of that profess to be Christian yet have not in any respect had their heart replaced. once you develop into born back, and Christ comes into your heart and differences you, you quite are a sparkling creation..born back. Claiming to be born back provides the prospect to the lost to ask "purely what do you advise, born back?" an similar way Nichodemus did. we do not draw the lost, the Holy Spirit does. communicate the reality in love and let the Holy Spirit do something else. in case you go away off something that an unbeliever received't comprehend at the same time as chatting with the lost, there heavily isn't something left of the Gospel. it really is all foolishness to them. it really is the Holy Spirit's job to make experience of it to them. God bless!!

I think that they can be saved. Are all Mormons saved? Are all Baptists, Catholics, Methodists and any other Christian denominations saved? Salvation happens on a personal level and it is not up to us to decide if they are or are not. I think that the Mormons have some of the fundamental principles of the bible down better then we might. Like evangelism and discipline. The true question should be are we out witnessing to everyone so that everyone can be in heaven.

We cannot base judgments on denominations as a whole. But we can make sure that the people around us know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

As for their "book of Mormons" God will take care of those who wrote it IF it is against His will!!

You were appalled? Christian means follower of Christ. I don't know why people feel they have the right or priviledge of determining MY standing with Christ.

As for Revelation 22:18,19, that is not talking about THE BIBLE. First of all, when John wrote down his revelation, there WAS no such thing as THE BIBLE.

Second, the word BIBLE:

Bible
Bible, the English form of the Greek name _Biblia_, meaning
"books," the name which in the fifth century began to be given
to the entire collection of sacred books, the "Library of Divine
Revelation."...
-- From Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary

The Bible is a collection of books. Therefore, when John says "THIS BOOK", he means REVELATION.

I am a born-again Christian. And a Mormon. We are "born of the water and of the Spirit" through baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Even our prophets have said that we are born-again Christians.

I note that it also says the above "don't add to the prophecy of this book" in Deuteronomy... yet all the other books of the Bible were added to it. The key here is that the Bible (by definition) is a collection of BOOKS. Revelation was referring to the prophecy in the book of Revelation.

Trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good, to live peaceably...etc

Added: primoa, with respect, there are Bible scriptures that prophesy each and every one of those events that you have mentioned. Peace.

What about the books that were removed in 1600 by Saint Jerome....the Bible has already been taken away from...the Bible you use....

Not that I think the Mormons or JW's are correct...but, no one religion is worthy to judge the other.

If Mormons would get rid of Joseph Smith as a prophet, his books as add ons, and just leave it all as a history of how the Church was founded, then yes they would be Christian.

They need to only use their bible as God's revelation.

As far as Rev. 22:18, it is only referring to the book of Revelations regarding adding and taking away. Read carefully.

Bart Erhman, New Testament scholar, in his book "Misquoting Jesus" takes on just that quote. It was added around the 7th century AD, not a part of the original Bible. What you're quoting is an admonition from scribes talking to other scribes not to change the text they were copying (all books were copied by hand in those days).

In reference to your question, the book of Mormon is not their bible. The Bible is thier bible, they just add the book of Mormon on to it, just like Catholics and Protestants have different verses in their bibles.

Contrary to popular belief, at least SOME mormons are born again. They know Jesus died for their sins and they love what He taught us on how to treat eachother and they love Him because He loves them. I don't judge anyone about whether they are saved or not except by their fruits. I will hang around anyone that is nice and a healthy person to be around even if they don't know what the word "saved" or "born again" mean! But I will not hang around some one who isn't nice or a healthy person to be around... even if they say they are "saved" or "born again" and such.... even if they ARE saved! To me, it's about health and safety. If I'm healthy and safe I'm able to be here on this earth to worship and serve G-d!

No they are not Christians..They have not asked Jesus Christ to come into their hearts and save them
Jesus said, "you must be born again".

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
