From a legal standpoint, you are free to be on your own. Before you take this giant step, however, make sure you're aware of all that goes into being on your own. Day to day expenses add up quickly, keeping up with laundry, paying for car insurance, roommate challenges are all things that you've probably not had to deal with while under your parent's roof. I'm not discouraging from doing this--many people do at your age and do well once they're on their own. I'm just offering some perspective of the responsibilities that accompany the freedom that you'll have. Wishing you all the best.

Well, if they are making your phone or car payments, that will definitely stop. I wouldn't count on them for money when you are broke, either. They could cause you mental anguish--but they cannot legally do anything about your move. I hope that you are moving far enough away to avoid potential problems. I also hope that you are making a good decision. Think hard before making the move. Good luck.

They can express their opinion, and that's it. You're 18, and can move out and live with whomever you want to. So, just do what's right for you.

No, not legally, you should only have to respect your familys rules if living under their roof... Other than that, take advice from them, but go your own way. Just make sure it doesn't bite you in the bum later.
