Because it's easy to take things out of context and twist them in a favorable way.

Religion is not a simple thing. The same people that attack Mormonism, yet Believe in the Bible must admit to believe in a religion that ordered "God's people" to kill thousands of Canaanite men, women, children, and even animals. A religion that accepted polygamy, temple worship, "changing the commandments" (from the old to new testament), etc.

Spiritual answers must be sought sincerely and through the only one capable and authorized to give them....that being God and individuals called by him.

God's people and God's truth has always been persecuted. People need to be spiritually minded to know who's will they're actually doing.

The majority of anti sites also disparage many other faiths. The first thing is to put their attacks in perspective. Some people just can't stand "heresy". Second, most critics mine the same obscure comments or opinions that they think put the church in a bad light. They will never admit that there are or were alternate views in the Church. They often get simple facts wrong. Third, they are extremely weak on the scriptures. They will mention somethng like being a god is not Biblical when there are a dozen examples that man has that potential. Last they do not offer an alternative that provides the same blessings we receive as members of the church. Are they lifting one another's burdens?

Hey buddy - even the apostles lie (Dallin Oakes, Bruce R McConkie, Boyd KKK Packer) as long as what gets to the tithe-paying membership sounds good.

Gordon Hinckley evaded giving straight answers on national TV and other interviews by stating "I don't know that we teach that..."

Joseph Smith lied to Emma about his marriages to other men's wives plus a couple of teenyboppers. Lorenzo Snow condemned polygamy while married to 11 women at the time.

Brigham Young claimed ignorance of the Meadows Mountain murder spree, yet the evidence strongly points that he at least condoned it.

The Book of Mormon is not really a lie, but a fairy tale no different than 'Lord of the Rings', and has a better moral. Joseph claimed to translate the Book of Abraham and the Kinderhook plates. He missed the mark there, too. Technically he lied, since he misrepresented 'truth'.

There is a culture and history of lies and deceit from the very top down within the church, so look who's calling the kettle black.

Maybe that's why morgbots are so quick to claim "That's a lie!" - They know exactly what they're talking about...

There are 2 reasons:
1. Lies are the basis of Mormonism
2. Mormon "spin doctors" have sanitized the history you read. The real history is available in books outside the church.

The same reason any anti-any belief site would have lots of lies - because they're anti.

LOL - maybe myth-busters needs a religion and spirituality segment (probably too controversial for them to even want to go there, eh?)

What about Joseph Smith having two 14 year old wives?
Records showing their children?

Well it is true that the Mormons used to ban blacks from becoming part of the church, but somewhere around the 70's I think they took that out.

A lot of those 'myths' are no longer true, but were true once. Blacks may not be excluded now, but they defiantly were before.

Aside from your myths you really need to provide a response to the factual points raised at:

I don't have a problem with Mormon people, my grandmother was Mormon. However, I do have a problem with some of the lies in your teachings...and I have a BIG problem with an ordinary man (Joseph Smith) making 3,410 changes to the word of GOD.
