If Jesus and his disciples didn't ask for money, why does every church and evangelist ask for money?

Matt 6:24-34?

"No man can serve two masters ... Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye sahll drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat, and the body than raiment?
"Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? ..."

"Our Father, who art in heaven...give us this day our daily bread..."

You are wrong.
Judas held the money bags for Jesus who was supported by the people he helped. Matter of fact, it is suggested that Judas might have stolen from that purse, which is why he objected to the woman who anointed the feet of Jesus.
We follow his example today, as the Church is supported by its members..
Why does this bother you? I doubt you ever put a penny in the offering.

Our congregation has a humble little building that needs to be maintained and the utilities paid... we help support 11 missionary families in the field and a mission in our community.... we provide what we can for the needs of those who have little in our community.... we have a full time pastor whom we pay a modest salary... he allso is a chaplin for the National Guard who was deployed to Iraq.. so he has some small income from that... but there are always needs for funds to meet the unexpected... so there is always the need to raise funds... we also provide camp trips for those children who can notr afford to go... and gas money for those stranded travelers who come by... and the list goes on.... We pass the plate... and we beg all we can get from any source we can...and trust in God to provide the rest... and he always dose...

I don't have a Bible in front of me but it comes from the Old Testament practice of "giving a tithe unto the Lord". The high priests then took that tithe and used it as their income and to help the poor in and needy. I believe it is referenced in Leviticus but don't hold me to that.
