Nothing. It's no more bizarre than any other church...

Well, there's nothing wrong with any of the doctrines, because I've tried them all out, and they are all enlightening, and help one to become a better person.

But if there is anything wrong with the Mormon church, I would say that perhaps there are a few too many "cultural rules" that people seem to think are doctrinal.

How much time do you have?

The biggest thing I think is wrong is that you don't hear enough about Jesus,in the LDS church.
They are more considered with your daily reading of the Book of Mormon, than the Bible. Yes, LDS I know that you take two years to read and study the Bible in Sunday School. Any other time is one of your other scriptures.
Lastly, I never liked singing "Praise to the Man" who communed with a peep-stone.I don't think you should sing praises to a mortal man.

EDIT- Really , smlingrl is that what the church is called? Oh my, I take everything that I said back. All this time I that it was The Church of Joseph Smith of Latter Day Saints.
The Jesus the LDS church worships is not the same Jesus I worship. The Jesus I worship is my God, my Lord and my Savior not my big brother. He is not the spirit brother to Lucifer either. The LDS don't worship the tradition Christ as your prophet Gordon B. Hinckely said.

You'll get answers here ranging from "absolutely nothing" to "absolutely everything" and everything in between.

What you should do is get a free copy of the Book of Mormon, read it, talk to the missionaries, and then sincerely ask God that question.

I think he's the only one that is truly qualified to answer it.

Where to begin?

The church history of Joseph Smith is markedly different from the affidavits and historical data of the times, plus many entries in Luck Mack Smith's (his mother) diary show a completely different character. He did have a terrific imagination, a penchant for money-digging with a peepstone, and a bad leg that kept him from doing a lot of physical hard work.

The Book of Mormon is a fabrication of early american folklore, 19th century morals, pilfered concepts and plots from other contemporary publications and passed of as 'true' because he said so.

But even if one gives him credit for being a pious, but revolutionary man, his claims to be able to 'translate' ancient languages fall apart completely:
The book of mormon peoples created societies, presumably judaic, that numbered into the millions, with all the infrastructure required to sustain that culture. Nothing of that culture exists exists today. Millions of soldiers were slaughtered, along with their horses and chariots (plus they support and logistics personnel) in New York. Not one shred of evidence has ever been uncovered. The Egyptian papyrus is a common funerary artifact. The Kinderhood plates were a hoax. Mark Hoffmann fooled the General Authorities, who aren't supposed to be fooled.

Everything else that resulted in Smith's missionary effort is a result of his charisma and compelling story. It's not unlike JZ Knights conversations with a 35,000 year old Atlantean warrior who supplies the meaning of life.

Building on this foundation of sand is the expanding 'revelations' that strain the credibility of the 21st century sentiments: Polygamy was good, now it isn't. Blacks are cursed, now they're embraced. Temple rituals have been 'civilized' to omit the more grisly and offending parts.

But some people love the total organization and control of their lives that they have turned it over to the dozen or so old white men in Salt Lake. These people aren't called sheep for their wool...

Ok so this is in response to the person that said there wasn't enough about Jesus in the Mormon church. What the heck??!! THE WHOLE BOOK OF MORMON IS ABOUT WAITING FOR JESUS! AND HIS COMING AND TEACHING! AND WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARD!! It's all about Jesus. That's why the Church is called The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latterday Saints. It means it's the church of Jesus for modern times.

The founder was a con artist and very good at it. He used to tell people they had buried treasure on their property that is guarded by a spirit and only he could get to it. They paid him and them halfway through he would yell at them for something and say because they did that the spirit realized what he was doing and ran-away with the treasure. No refunds.

How do you know it's wrong?, you don't know anything about the church, so you're assuming it's wrong.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Obviously you don't know anything about it so maybe you may want to learn more about it and decide for you self at www.mormon.org and www.lds.org
