i dont understand how the odds work any help please?

Asuming you are just talking straight win boxing odds. It is usually the amount you get paid per dollar you put down.

5-1 - Bet 1 dollar get 5. Bet 5 get 25
15-1 Bet 1 dollar get 15. Bet 5 get 75

So when looking at the odd the higher the amount you will make if that events happens the more money you will make. But also the less likely that event will happen.
