while those are some of the symptoms of a low thyroid,,, along with very dry skin, they also can be symptoms of something else,,,, the doctor should do a complete blood work up, that includes a thyroid and sugar test, along with many others,,,,,, while it not usual to have a thyroid problem develop so young, it is possible,,,,,, as to overweight, are you also not getting enough exercise? even if just walking? that can also cause these symptoms, as you reach your teen years, you most likely dont "play" ,run around like you did as a child,,,,
allergies can affect you like this, so can a poor diet, if you dont eat a really balanced diet, you should be taking a daily vitamin, like a One a day for Women
i would say, just wait and discuss this with the doctor, hopefully he will order the blood test, if not, discuss that with your parents,,,,, perhaps look up online the blood test, its called something like "complete blood workup",,, they only take blood once, but test it for alot of things,,

I think the doctor is probably the best person to tell you as he can do tests to find out what the problem is.

An underactive thyroid could be a possibility.
For the thyroid to work properly you need to be getting enough iodine zinc and selenium The thyroid has an impact on every cell in your body so it is very important.

Low levels of thyroid hormone leads to water retention, salt and protein. Cholesterol will rise. Nails skin and hair grow more slowly.

Some people with underactive thyroid have found they have a wheat intolerance and their condition improved when they removed this from their diet

Symptoms of an underactive thyroid include

Cold hands and feet
A tendency to feel the cold
Depression
Tiredness especially in the morning
Headache
Constipation
Swollen eyelids especially in the morning
Swelling in hands and feet
Loss of hair
Muscle cramps in feet at night
Dry skin

Diagnosis can be confirmed by blood tests
If you have three or more of these symptoms and especially feeling cold all the time it is worth getting checked out.

A low body temperature reflects under functioning thyroid.
Normal body temp in morning is 36.6-36.8 degrees c
a temperature of 36.4 or lower suggest a sluggish thyroid.

Good luck at the doctors and try not to worry to much he or she will know what to do to help you.

Could be thyroid - you'll drive yourself crazy trying to guess, so why not try to relax and enjoy the weekend! You'll find out soon enough, and hopefully the doctor will be able to help you feel better quickly!

I wish you well! (I've got Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - I know what you're going through, but it's going to be OK!!!)

It could be either one. You won't really know until you have a morning blood test of TSH, Free T4, Free T3, fasting glucose, and fasting insulin.

If I were you, I'd get copies of the test results. I know especially with thyroid, many labs are going by old standards.

i don't think it is your thyroid because if it was you would have blurred vision. and would be stumbling around running into things. and you would have trouble keeping your balance........i know because my girlfriend suffers from thyroid problems.......what u have might be gallbladder. or diabetes. i can't really say. but i wish you good luck.......
