It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

I do not believe God wants us to be poor....and I think wealth, many times is a reward for hard work and effort..and a blessing from God...as long as we do good things with our wealth...and do not let it consume our lives...but obviously, that is hard to do. Do you have an IPOD, PC, Microwave...to many you are wealthy...would you be willing to give up those things? If not, does that mean they control our lives?

But, churches wealth is another issue...the money that Churches have...is essentially God's money...should it be used for multi-million dollar buildings, etc...? I don't think so...I think God would rather his money to be used to feed the hungry, help the poor, widows and orphans as he commands us to do...

Churches have lost sight of their calling...instead they are building their wealth here on earth...rather than in heaven.

The desire for money, not the money itself, is evil. To make money the main focus in your life versus making God first in your life is the sin. You cannot serve God and the desire for money, it just doesn't work.
If you sincerely follow God's Law, the 10 Commandments and put your faith in Jesus, and believe in prosperity -not all Christians do- then God will prosper you, sometimes beyond your wildest dreams, but even with prosperity which is provided by God, God still comes first above all else.
Tithing or sowing into God's Kingdom is the Thing that releases the Blessing into ones life. Churches don't really need to even ask for money since Christians are commanded to tithe to God what is His and this obedience to Him releases the blessing and, results in blessings in ones life. This is a difficult concept for the world to understand but it is a Spiritual Law, that when obediently followed, produces results in the believers life.
Churches and Evangelists ask for offerings so that they can carry out the work the Lord has instructed them to do. If you would take time and actually look into it yourself you would see that this money not only feeds and houses the Ministers so that they can bring God's Word to the world, it also feeds and clothes the poor, helps in missions work overseas in underdeveloped countries, and other good works. All organizations like United Way, etc., are doing is following the charitable system that God had already layed out in the bible for people to follow.
You can thank the Church, the body of Christ, for leading the way in being charitable to others, this is what we Christians are commanded to do, help the poor, needy, and spiritually bankrupt souls of the world. We catch a lot of grief for being kind to others but we do it with joy for the Lord.
Read your bible and study it out and you will find that it is the truth.
I hope this helped you some with your question.

Jesus teaches that covetousness is bad (Luke 12:15)
When Paul teaches that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10), he is confirming that covetousness is a barrier to God.
Why people ask for money to do missions and such is because they have that calling. Some are hucksters, no doubt, but by and large, good works are done by the sincere ones. Plus the church's light bill needs to get paid too.

If it's for the right reason or wrong it takes money to operate.

I'm a born again Christian but I do question the TV evangelists, asking for so much money. Some of us christians would rather put our money into helping the poor.
I give often my main purpose is to spread the gospel to third world countrys.

Asking for something does not mean that I love it.

You asked me a question about churches and evangelist. You asked a lot of people. Does that mean you are in love with the knowledge of the methods of churches and evangelists?

Probably not.

Not because they so much as want it for themselves, but it takes money to obtain things these days. I.E. if you want television air time to broadcast your services or anything. I don't understand why everyone seems to get in an uproar when the church does misssion work to reason people. But now when some joe blow comes along and sings music that is gutter-laden and after his concert will sleep with your teenage daughters, people have no problem promoting them. What is wrong with this picture? May God Bless U.

the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.....The majority of these evangelical "christian" movements are all for the prosperiety of life and money....that is why these people are liars and are destroying the living church. These people like: Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen are going to burn SOO bad...Now Im a Christian, but I know better than to give heed to "vain doctrine".

Dang Right "James M".

love of money is evil.

and because people wont give it voluntarily, they have to ask. Opening up a church, and keeping it open costs $, and whos going to pay for it if not the ones that go..

PRIESTS COULD RUN THEIR SERVICES UNDER TREES OR GATHER THEM AT PARKS OR WHATNOT...THEN THEY WOULD ACT A LITTLE BIT LIKE CHRIST AND NOT COLLECT MONEY TO BUY THE POPE HIS GOLDEN CHAIRS AND GOLDEN STAFF...
AND ALL THE OTHER BRANCHES OF CHRISTIANITY SHOULD ALSO DO THE SAME...DO AS CHRIST....AND AVOID BUILDING TEMPLES THAT ARE PALACE-LIKE WHICH REQUIRE TONS OF MONEY...
