My friends bridal shower is tommorow and Im the host. I changed my idea on the main dish to croissant sandwhiches to make it more affordable. I was wondering if someone had an easy croissant sandwhich idea. I was thinking turkey and cheese and ham cheese croissant sandwhiches as a start but really cant think past that. Anthying from simple condiments to other meats or even completely different ideas will help. Also, where the best place to get croissants and is there a certain kind of croissant that works best? I can cook very well so I need something simple. I really appreaciate any help provided.

The easiest thing is to have a selection of deli meats and cheeses with condiments such as mayo and mustard available. You can let the guest then create their own.

Also you can do a chicken salad recipe with shredded chicken mixed with mayo or Miracle whip and you can dress that up anyway you like with celery or sunflower seeds mixed in. Try allrecipes.com for more ideas, just search chicken salad.

Check your local SuperWalmart or Sam's Club for the croissants, they have big or small and they are really pretty good and they sell them in large quantities and they are reasonably priced.

Whoa, you're giving us thumbs down already? We're just trying to help. You're the one who's waited until the last minute! And seriously, lay out a tray of meat, a tray of cheese the condiments and the croissants sliced. What could be easier?

I think what I would do is get an assortment of deli meats, cheeses, sliced tomato, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce and condiments and let the guests choose what they like. You can have a deli prepare the tray for you or do your own. Pre-slice the crossiants (you can buy very small, appetizer sized if you like).
You can find croissants at Sam's Club or Costco, or a sandwich shop like atalanta Bread Co.

If you are not having a lot of guests you have a great idea.
Luck to you and the new mom.

Wal-mart makes an edible croissant. Not nearly as good as a real French bakery - but passable. They come in 5-packs and 10 packs. I'd go for the 10 packs and plan 2 per guest.

Measurements aren't exact but try this:

Meat from 1Rotissary chicken from the market
handfull of chopped onion
handfull of chopped pepper
handful of halved/quartered green grapes (not raisins)
handful of chopped celery
you can get the chopped veggies (except the grapes) from the market salad bar

med dollop of good mayonaise
Small dollop of dijon mustard
salt/pepper to taste
bit of curry powder - to be naughty

Mix together but not too goopy- spread on croissants top with tomatoes and leaf lettuce. should make about 8 sandwiches.

tuna or chicken salad..you could flare them up by adding different things like maybe nuts to the chicken salad or grapes and for the tuna salad try capers and old bay seasoning. maybe even getting your own chicken breast and roasting it or roasting a whole chicken the day before and using the meat?
