I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I leaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quite, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now lets see...our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free
medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press
"one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other
than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

No Anti Suck-you missed the point. I wanted the birds here because I love them and think they're beautiful. It was the birds who ruined it for themselves.

power anni-I believe with all my heart that Jesus would've 'taught them to fish'. Jesus despised greed. He taught us to HELP our fellow man--and in return those who follow him will help others--not just themselves. This is about give and receive. Not receive, receive, receive, receive, receive.......

I love it. I don't care what anyone says. I agree it's time to take away the feeder.

Kind of clever analogy, but really, if you know anything about birds, you will realize that the bird-feeder parable is quite a fabrication.

Birds won't demand that you feed them, especially wild birds, and they certainly don't respect the same property laws you do.

They squak in the morning, because that is what birds do, they sing to greet the morning.

And you are silly to put a bird feeder on your porch, if the story has one kernel of truth to it ... Birds will nest where there is food.

Taking their nests down is mean spirited, it says a lot about your character. You must be a lovely, gentle and compassionate woman, a great mother and wife.

People will also nest where there is food and water .... why are civilizations founded near waterways, coasts and woodlands?

So girlfriend, please. When you have to survive the world will look like a completely different place.

What would Jesus do?

I think that is the best analogy of our current plague in our country.

Antis Suck -- Your are a Racist of the worst kind...you scream "RACIST" at anyone who doesn't buy into your crap. Oh, and if the birds are making pests of themselves even after getting the best bird seed for free, doesn't common sense allow that the property owner stop providing the seed? How would the color of the birds' feathers have ANYTHING to do with it?

Take down the bird feeder, and send all the birds south not just for the winter, but forever.

Just remember, who put out the bird feeder.Don't be mad at the birds for being birds.

I welcome the blue birds because they do a service by getting rid of bugs.

The really bad part is the government makes us buy the bird seed.

It's a great analogy.Look for one of mine in a few minutes.

Heh. An excellent analogy!

Start giving away stuff for "free," and the lazy dregs of society will line up around the block and begin to develop a sense of entitlement after long.

And they'll **** all over your clean streets & sidewalks.

Now, you need to move on to the part where you release the cat(s) on them.
