Hi there,
I want to buy some speakers for my TV as it has too low volume and on the back of the TV there is 2 x sockets similar to PC speaker sockets but 1 is white and 1 is red and the PC speakers I have are no good (there's only 1 white plug)-Can anyone please advise me what these connections/sockets are called or if there are adapters I could buy for regular speakers??REALLY appreciated!!!
Many thanks y'all!
Jayne

ok-thanks you guys so far....but...(always a but!) ok I have the 3 standard yellow,red & white but there are another 2-1 red & 1 white which say left/right and have a circle with an arrow pointing out (ok I'm guessing output?!?) so how do I connect speakers then? And do you have any idea if I can buy speakers with these adapters attached?? I really am grateful for all your help!

This is a standard audio connector. you need to ask for RCA cables.
These won't go straight to your speakers though, you'll have to plug the other end into your stereo or amplifier - there should be red & white connectors here too titled something like video/aux. The amp will then play through to the speakers.
If this doesn't work, they may be inputs and not outputs.... Do you have a yellow one just next to them? Or one marked S-Video? That would indicate them to be inputs as yellow is for video.

Your choice is either powered speakers or a Sound System with an Axillary Input. The RCA audio out connections on your TV are standard.

You might consider a boom box type system with de-attachable speakers, just make sure it accepts a Line In Aux Input. Example :

Note: this particular systems input is a 1/8th" Stereo connection so you would need a cable like this :

the Red & White ones are for connecting either A Stereo, Video, DVD etc
they are Called
AV or Audio / Video
there are also Yellow and White and Red Connections
these are for
Yellow = Video
White = Mono or Left
Red = Right.
so you can connect you video Recorder via the Yellow and White.
Your stereo via the Red and White.
hope this clears things up for you a bit.

What you're relating is element audio/video connections, (ypbpr). those take a particular plug in wire yet are worth thje better attempt in qu0ality sound and image. you've not listed any specs on the Technica encompass equipment to be able which could help you artwork (or configure), it out! it is going to matter upon how previous the connections are, (are they element video? Or are they HDMI? contained in the series of 5.a million encompass that you've. it is going to matter upon the era of kit & no matter if it really is nicely matched. wish this permits!!

the 2 sockets at the back of your telly should have "audio out" if so go to your local currys or hi fi shop and ask for a set of phono leads your speakers will have sockets or clips so it is just a case of plugging into the SPEAKERS first then into the telly (sounds complicated )but rtrust me its easy, have fun!
