I've not had a problem catching a buzz from vino sipped from the finest of jelly jars......
Although I admit it does lack the panache and atmosphere....

If you want elegance, crystal is the only way to go. I think the key is "glass." A jelly glass, crystal, and everything in between means the wine will taste like the wine. Plastic glasses may tend to change the flavor of the wine, but if you drink it from the plastic as quickly as possible ...

No. Some people drink wine at every meal. But crystal is something you reserve for special occasions. To require crystal with wine would be too high a standard.

It doesn't have to be. I've served wine in plastic wine glasses for hot tub parties. Crystal is prettier, but it's all the same.
