you might find a teleconverter to not be very useful.

1. it only works in the far telephoto range of the camera, so a 2x converter makes your lens essentially a 600mm fixed lens.
2. at 20x magnification on the fixed lens makes it hard to find your subject, you can't just zoom in like the normal lens.
3. at this focal length, focus becomes critical even for more distant objects, hard to focus if the image is bouncing around.
4. the teleconverter reduces the effective aperature, so that you will have to use slower shutter speed, like 1/60 in broad daylight.
5. it will be impossible to hand hold shots at 1/60 second. they will be blurry. The slowest speed you would want to use is 1/500 for hand held shots.
6. putting on tripod will make it hard to track live action, you can forget objects that move.
7. a better option is to use the 300 mm at max pixel resolution and crop in photoshop to get the extra zoom effect.

so no, i can't recommend one.

I don't think teleconverters work for zooms with that wide of a range. The only ones I've seen work with long zooms (70-200 for instance) or fixed telephoto lenses.

That being said, I would look based on what kind of mount you have, i.e. what kind of camera you are using it with. For instance, if you are attaching your Tamron lens to a Nikon camera, I would look for a teleconverter for Nikon lenses. Same for a Canon camera - look for teleconverters for Canon lenses.

Hope this helps!
