We've heard both answers. I was told by one person that my rings were backwards and the wedding band goes on first because "you can break an engagement but you can never break a marriage." THEN we heard that it doesn't make sense to take off the engagement ring to put the wedding band, so shouldn't the wedding band be second? Please help :) we really appreciate it.

Traditionally, the wedding band goes on first ("closer to the heart", as they say), then the engagement ring on top of it. During the ceremony, the engagement ring is removed, the wedding band is placed on the finger, and the engagement ring is put back on. Also, the bride may choose not to wear her engagement ring to the ceremony - or wear it on the opposite hand.

When it's all said and done, tho, the order of the rings matters very little in the grand scheme of things. Wear them the way it suits you, and congrats on the marriage.

Completely up to you.

I asked everyone that once too, and everyone explained that the wedding band should go on first, but that seems to be an inconvenience, considering i'd have to switch them after the ceremony.

In my personal opinion, the engagement ring was there first and that's where it shall stay. My engagement ring is absolutely stunning, but the wedding will be far more memorable, so i'd rather wear the ring I received on my very special day. However, my mother and sister-in-law insist it the other way around, so it's absolutely your own choice. It doesn't matter.

Best of luck.

I have my wedding band on first and than my engagement ring. Every woman that is married in my family wears them that way. The preacher that married my husband and I told me the wedding band goes on first than the engagement ring so the wedding band is closer to your heart. I put my engagement ring on my right hand right before the ceremony and than right after the ceremony (before all of the pictures) I put my engagment ring back on my left hand.

I think it is completely up to you. You can wear your rings however you want to.

Wedding band then the engagement ring because you don't wear your engagement ring on your wedding day the wedding ring goes on and then after the photos etc you put your engagement ring back on!

You wear the engagement ring until the wedding, then at the wedding the maid of honor holds the engagement ring until AFTER you put on the wedding ring. The wedding ring always goes first and closest to your heart :-)

The band goes first since its suppose to be closest to your heart, then the engagement ring goes on top. The reason we wear wedding rings on the left hand 'ring finger' is because there is suppose to be a vein that runs from that finger to your heart so you'd always want to keep your marriage and your commitment to your spouse close to your heart.

The wedding band goes closer to your heart, so it goes on first. Most brides on their big day put their engagement ring on the other hand or take it off completely before the ceremony. Good luck and congrats!

The wedding band goes on first, with the engagement ring on overtop, to protect it.

well you're looking for 1 band that's just wider. you could get a plain band that has a ridge down the middle making it look like 2. or you could get a 2 or 3 row eternity band, that's wider than the link you posted. that's what I'm doing in lieu of an engagement ring, I'm putting that $$$$ toward a big wide blingy eternity band.
