Darling Hubby and I just had a brief discussion along these lines the other day. His position: Agnostics and atheists should start a religion of their own. My position: People will not gather in a religious way around an absence of belief.

Atheism is only an absence of belief in any kind of g/God. It does not preclude believing in other things, such as the sanctity of life, or the value of a strong family, etc. So atheists might come together in other places, such as volunteers with the local fire company, or founding a "Parents without Partners" chapter. But I don't think atheists are likely to come together in a religious (your "Christianity of the future" suggestion) fashion.

Agnostics might. They have not precluded belief, they only decline to profess one particular belief.

The problem I see with religion isn't so much the belief, but the power structure. i.e. The Pope who controls 200 Million Roman Catholics, and 2Billion christians (less directly Or Ted Haggard leading 30 Million evangelical Christians. When you have control over that many people, it gets political and people get corrupted.

Judaism, (13 Million world wide) doesn't have any centralized organization. There is no 'head rabbi'-so, nobody is controlling them. So, despite what the anti-semites would have you believe, they are much less a threat to society than religions with a hierarchal organization.

Atheism, while it may be growing, is a group of individuals and therefore are not easily controlled. While I'm impressed with Richard Dawkins' wit, and Sam Harris' reasoning ability- I certainly wouldn't follow them to the ends of the earth.

Who reported Atheism is a faith? Atheism isn't a faith. Come effectively...''Atheists are the adult males and girls who have not got self belief something with out suitable info''. Who annoying approximately them or their concern or their standards? First, there is not any atheists right here in india. Atheists are extra in christianity, and interior the western countries. There are as many motives for being an atheist as there are atheists: the line to atheism has a tendency to be very own and individual, located upon the focused circumstances of a character’s existence, reviews, and attitudes. although if, this is accessible to describe some popular similarities that are frequently commonly used between fairly basically some atheists, fantastically atheists interior the West. this may well be a stunning question; regrettably, it isn’t fairly person-friendly to respond to. Many atheists discover their attitude to disbelief by way of technology. Over the centuries technology has come to modern-day motives of aspects of our word that have been as quickly as the unusual area of religion. provided that medical motives have been extra efficient than non secular or theistic motives, the aptitude of religion to call for allegiance has weakened. as a result, some persons have come to completely reject now no longer maximum effective faith, yet additionally concept interior the life of a god. For them, gods are ineffective as a proof for any function of the universe and furnish no longer something nicely worth investigating. have you ever ever heard of 'smart atheists'? this is a style utilized by some non secular theists to describe a majority of those theists who technically experience in a god, inspite of the undeniable fact that who behave immorally. the theory is that ethical habit follows immediately from genuine theism, hence immoral behavior is an extremely final effect of now no longer certainly believing. Theists who behave immorally have have been given to fairly be atheists, inspite of what they think approximately.

If it was really the Christianity of the future, we'd have to become bitter with each other and splinter off into denominations.

"I follow the School of Russell! Only he knew the way things really are!"

"Oh yeah! We'll you're just a blind fool, only Dawkins knows the truth!"
