I was wondering if a woman could become a general/admiral in the U.S. armed forces. I've never heard of one. Have any of you?

There already are. Most recently the Brig. General of the 800 MP's was demoted after the Abu Ghriab incident in Iraq.

Also, there is a female in the Marine Corp that was recently promoted to General - I think she might be the Marine Corps' first female general - not sure on that one though. I think she serves at Camp Pendelton.

In America you can be anything you want, as long as you bribe the right politicians. We have more Generals now than we did when we had 10 million men in the Army. There are Generals doing jobs enlisted men used to do.

Oh yes they can. I had the pleasant heart attack of turning a corner in 1996 at the Pensacola Fl. Naval air station and meeting a Marine Corps, female, Brigadier General standing about two inches from my nose. As far as I know, she was also the highest ranking W.M. at that time.

Good heavens yes. Admiral Grace Murray Hopper, for one. she is the one who coined the phrase "bug in the system" becuase one of her comps wasn't working and when she oipened it up, there was a moth inside.

Admiral Tracey was a Three Star who was in charge of all of the Navy's Education and Training a few years ago.
