I have had a couple of dogs that broke their toenail clear off.. That poor sore looking pink skin needs to be kept clean. And it hurts like a bugger.. As long as she isn't obsessing over it, and it doesn't get infected, the nail will grow back in no time at all. She will try to protect the foot tho, cause it is sore. The vet isn't going to do anything but clean it and tell you to keep an eye on it.
Her belly, clean it and put some neosporin on to help promote healing. She'll be fine.. Keep an eye on both and watch for signs of redness and infection.

First I would contact animal control and your city or town hall for information and reporting the incident. If need be I would contact an attorney, consultations are free. Get evidence together, such as notarized letters from others at the park that saw what happened, your vet bill/s and of course pictures. An attorney would be best to advise you as to what you should do. Although it is a dog park, each owner should have their dog under their control all times. ADD:: With your additional details, Not being at a dog park when this happened, more than likely you would either both be held responsible at 50% each or you would be found to be 100% at fault. The reason being is that even though the dogs were on leashes, An owner can not control their dog completely while being on a 40' leash. What would be stated is that you should have kept your dog away from other dogs not knowing how they were when being approached by other dogs. If it is not a dog park then all dogs should be kept on a 6' lead with the owner being able to control their dog every moment. The other dog was not playing with yours yet the other must have felt threatened in some way to have lashed out at yours. If the other owner had their dog on a leash and under control when yours ran by chasing another dog, it was you that did not have full control of your dog and are lucky to have been offered 1/2 the expenses. Ultimately it was your responsibility to make sure that your dog as well anyone or anything around you was safe and not bothered. Not all dogs or people like when owners have their dogs on very long leashes, this is how accidents happen.

I agree with the first post. The torn toenail really needs to be checked by a vet. The scrape on the belly can be cleaned and treated with Neosporin, as long as she is not able to lick it off. It will make her sick. But if you take her to the vet for the toenail, it wouldn't hurt to have him/her look at her belly too.

use antibacterial soap and buy this cream from walmart - my female tore her nail off before and this is what the vet told me to do if it gets infected in the next week then take her to the vet for antibiotics - but it isnt that serious - put the cream on the belly and toe nail - if your dog will let you wrap the toe in gauze and leave it alone then wrap it if not no big deal -
the cream is made by equate probally in the baby section of the store - it says vitamins A&D ointment - skin protectant everday first aid - i use it for every cut and scrape my dogs get - after about two days of useing it your dog will probally sit there while you put it on i think they know it helps-

One time my dog hurt his toenail. I did not know until it got infected. He was in so much pain. I took him to Vet and he was all good. I was told that if I did not get the antibiotics and the area of interest cleaned properly the infection would have spread. That would have been a lot more money plus he would have been in worst condition.

The only thing that sounds worthy of a vet visit, is the torn nail. That can cause a lot of pain, and could get infected if not treated properly.

waste money? Hmmm.... if your child ripped her pinky nail out, would you take him/her to the dr's? That dog is like a child, she depends on you to take proper care of her. Nails being ripped out are painful and should be checked by vet. She walks on that foot,... dirt, debris, etc.,.... ripe for infection.
